Monday to Saturday February 21th to 27th, 2010
Sorry guys, I am so far behind on my blog I think I’m first! I’m gonna do the highlights and carry on!
On Monday night we went back to the Paradise Village Yacht Club to see another Tom Coster performance, with a guest spot with our friend, Tom, on the bass, a great time was had by all.
Tuesday we went on the boat to do some whale watching, we actually saw momma and baby breach!!! We went to Los Arcos to do some snorkeling, Ross was in the water with fish all around him, and it was so cool. The weather was so great………we had a fabulous time!
Wednesday Ross was called to play a gig at Britannia in La Cruz for a fund raiser so we drove there to set up the drums and then drove to the airport to pick up our friend Jan. The poor guy had brought us some flea medication and got the red light at the airport and was told he cannot bring any pet medication in the country without having a pet on board, so it was confiscated, he can pick it up when he goes back home! They didn’t say anything about the Tylenol 1 or back pills he brought us, go figure! We drove straight to Britannia for the gig, poor guy hadn’t been in Mexico for 2 hours and we already had him working.
Thursday we drove to Nelly’s for Ross’s gig at Crazy Nelly’s, Jan’s first paying gig here in Mexico!
Friday we drove to PV to show Jan the sights, went to Rizo’s (sp?) for some popcorn (it is the Canadian/American grocery store) and then had some 2 for 1 ribs at Tortino’s (sp?). We then went to the market, I got a new purse, and Ross got a pinky ring and Jan got a necklace for his daughter! We walked on the Malecon for a bit then drove to Nuevo to book our Los Caletas trip on Wednesday. I love Los Caletas! Ross then drove to his meeting at Paradise Village, Jan, Ross and I had some Starbucks coffee then Ross went to his meeting and Jan and I went shopping. He picked up a shirt from a tailor and I had bought some espresso coffee for us to drink in the morning. After we got home Ross and Jan went to Bucerias Centro to The Twisted Rose (a really good restaurant) and saw the drummer we saw that played with Tom Coster at then Yacht club! What a treat!
Saturday we left at around 11 our time to drive to the golf club tournament that Juan-Ted and the Amazing Rhythm Roosters were playing for. Jan played with them also and then after stopping at Ralph’s house in Lo de Marcos to swing in his hammocks on top of his wonderful house we drove to San Poncho to play for the music festival there! We got home about an hour ago I am finally finishing my blog, Jan went to bed in Betsy and Ross is watching the Olympics bobsledding.
I’m gonna go to bed now, it’s late, I have had a lot of sun and I’m tired.

Saturday & Sunday February 20th & 21st, 2mil10
The sun is shining and everyone is in a great mood, the wedding is over and people are tanning. Brandi, Pam’s maid of honor, Tara, Evan, Ross, Lexi, Pamela, Derek, and everyone else was tanning by the pool. We didn’t have any commitments so we just sat and did whatever we wanted. Not much happened on Saturday except Pam, Brandi and I walked down the beach to the other resort, it is smaller and I think I liked it better; it is a baby sister of the resort we stayed in.
Sunday we woke up fairly early as we needed to get out of the room as we are leaving today. Our transportation came at 1:30 so we got to see Tara and Evan for lunch and Pam and Derek walked by to eat when we were walking out. We caught our van and the drive to Cancun didn’t seem as long on the way back (about 1 1/2 hours), but it really poured on our way to the airport. Oh, I forgot to tell you that on the way down when we were at the Mexico City airport we both ended up having a back and foot massage and Ross got a pedicure (I had one before we went), it was wonderful!
We had an uneventful trip back, but were about ½ hour late to land so Sue and Harold had to wait longer to pick us up, but they are such troopers! We got home and our kids were excited we were home, we were too!

Today is the big day, I was up and getting my hair done by 9am and it is really cloudy and spitting rain, not good. After she put in about 40 bobby pins and 6cans of hair spray I immediately went to the store and bought an umbrella. I met Pamela back in the salon; she was getting a pedicure and feeling great. She had been very stressed Thursday trying to keep 40 people amused, which is how many guests she had, at a destination wedding, unbelievable! She woke up today and was at peace, which is a great thing! We had some champagne while we chatted (Brandi, her maid of honor brought some in) and a husband of a friend of Pam’s was taking pictures the whole time, at the end of the time they spent there he had taken over 800 pictures. I went back to my room to get ready and was back in Pam’s room before 1 (the wedding was at 3) and Pam, Lexi and I munched on nachos and guacamole. Pam had the hairdresser put her veil on and she was wearing a zip up the front hoodie, jean shorts and her 5” heels! Lexi put on her dress and I cried, then Pam put her dress on and I cried some more! All the girls came in with their dresses and it was time for the photographer to come in to take some pictures. I left to go to the lobby where we all got picked up by golf cart to take us to the gazebo on the beach where Pam and Derek got married. It was still cloudy but at least it wasn’t raining.
The gazebo was gorgeous, white fluffy curtains with a table in the center with a flower arrangement. When we got there the white chairs were all set up, just like you see on TV, you could see the ocean in the background with the black clouds above. Once we all got settled, the 3 flower girls came first, then the 4 brides maids then Pamela walked down the aisle with her dad. The clouds parted and the sun came out! She was beautiful, Terry handed her over to Derek and they proceeded to walk up the 3 stairs and faced the preacher. The ceremony was in Spanish with the wedding planner following in English, when they asked Pamela if she would take Derek in holy matrimony she said “absolutely”, we all cried. Once the ceremony was over we went onto the beach for the pictures.
We had a great supper at one of the a la carte restaurants then the reception was outside by the pool, we had a DJ and the dancing was great. It was so awesome that Tara, Evan, Ash and Teo could be there, it was excellent as they grew up together. The reception ended at 11pm and about 5 minutes after it ended it started to rain, what timing. We stopped for a nightcap in one of the lounges then off to bed for us old farts.

We woke up at 8am to meet everyone for breakfast, I forgot to mention we met Pamela too, we didn’t talk long, she was on her way out to party with the girls, and she said they normally get together for breakfast between 8:30 and 9, so we opted for the 9am time!
Stacy and family were there along with Derek’s mum with my ex-husband and family, they were almost done and by the time Ross and I had gotten our breakfast, my ex and family left so we sat down and had a nice chat with everyone while eating. Pam didn’t get to breakfast until after we were done, they stayed and partied until 3am.The weather was cloudy and rainy, not much happened except for a dinner we had in the buffet at 6. We sat outside for a bit, again it was cloudy so not super good for sun tanning.

Sue and Harold picked us up at 10am and we went to McDonalds for an egg mcmuffin before driving to the airport. There was no lineup at the ticket counter and Ross got a window seat, I tried to select seats on-line and they kept saying, this feature is not available at this time, please try later. We were only 15 – 20 minutes late so we did pretty well I think for Mexico.
We are now in the Mexico City airport and I am waiting for Ross to get his pedicure, we both got a back and foot massage but I had a pedicure yesterday, so I am trying to connect to the internet while he is in 7th heaven! It doesn’t seem to be working, yack!
We have a 3 1/2 hour layover here so after Ross is done we are going to get a bite to eat at Chili’s then I guess sit at gate 52 until our plane leaves. It had started to rain when we left PV this morning and it is raining here, we hope its ok in Tulum, but I have a funny feeling it isn’t. Well that is about it for now, I’ll add more later. Well, we got to Cancun when it was dark out (7:30pm) so we didn’t see much.
Once we got our luggage our ride came up to us and we drove 1 ½ hours in a van with a really nice driver. We dropped off one couple at a resort very close to Cancun so we had the van to ourselves, the driver grew up in the area so he ran a commentary on our way to our the hotel. Once at the hotel we were just checking in and Stacy with Jessie and the girls came up and gave us a big hug. They had just gotten in a few hours before us and were very tired, we all went into the buffet area, we only had about ½ hour until it closed, and had supper with them, they had already ate but Stacy had a bite to eat with us and the girls had more dessert! After supper we got our luggage and were driven to our room, it is a very large resort. We got into the room, unpacked and vegged!

Only 1 more sleep before we see all the kids! Hurray!
Stacy called me last night asking about how Jordan is going to get into the resort since she is booked in our room and arriving at the airport 5 hours ahead of me. I called Travelocity (I love these guys) they called the hotel and she is good to go, all I had to do was give them her name. Stacy and Jessie already have Cami and Melanie in their room and in order to have Jordan there too they would have had to upgrade their room for way more money, so I have put her in our room but she will stay with Stacy and Jessie.
I had gotten up fairly early to make the call as they were leaving around noon to drive to Atlanta to catch their flight (it is much cheaper to fly out of the Atlanta airport rather than the one in Greenville) early in the morning, so they are staying overnight. After I got that handled, I fiddled on the computer for a while then got ready to get my nails done for the wedding. I had an 11:30 appt and while I was waiting for my toes to dry I was reading the Amigos y Vecinos (it is a bilingual paper put out once a month on paper and on-line) and I found out that Gina, the owner of the place where I get my nails done, has a sea lion in her backyard in a pool! I asked her about it and she said it is very expensive to keep him so she sent him to work. He has his own trailer with a pool in it and every morning he goes and allows people to pet him, he hugs and gives kisses. See the article below.
Gina, the Diva
by Valiene Heckhart
If you have not met Gina Gambirasi, it is because she is always working. Between her two shops, called Salon Divas, and an eight month old baby girl, Aliyah, she stays busy. Gina was born in Lancaster, California, the daughter of two South Americans. She went to school in California but not to study cosmetology. She learned some of the techniques from a friend and did her own nails while living in Santa Cruz. Later she studied in books and through seminars to perfect her art. In 1995, she moved to San Pancho, Nayarit, because she wanted to live in Mexico and get a feeling of the country. Then she heard of a salon opening on the south side of Puerto Vallarta and went to work there. In 1997, she opened her first salon in south Puerto Vallarta. In 2002, she opened Salon Divas in Marina Vallarta. That same year, she met Paco and moved to Bucerias. Paco is the man with the very pampered South American sea lion named Flash. Flash has his own swimming pool!
Together, Gina and Paco have four children. There are three boys, Pancho, Alan and Emilio, and one girl, Aliyah.
In July of 2009, Gina decided to start doing nails in Bucerias part-time so she could spend more time with her new baby. For the first few months, she worked out of her home. She gained clients rapidly, many who were grateful not to drive to PV to see her. A couple of months ago, she opened her Bucerias branch of Salon Divas. It is located on Làzaro Càrdenas, next door to Yulima’s Boutique. The salon offers manicures, pedicures, and all the fingernail enhancements-acrylics, gels, silks, etc. And the pedicures are fantastic. I had only had one pedicure before and was very pleasantly surprised by the one in Gina’s shop. With the herbs and creams, the massage of calves and feet, you feel totally relaxed and pampered. Try it. You will like it!

And that is the truth; I have been very pampered today! Once I got home I finished packing the suitcase with all the gifts I got for everyone, the clothes we are wearing to the wedding and shoes, including the wedding present and Jordan’s birthday present. If that suitcase gets lost we are hooped! Ross and I are sharing another suitcase with our stuff in it; we are only going for 4 days, so we don’t need too much. I am so proud of myself; I am only bringing 2 pairs of sandals to wear (not including the ones for the wedding) one black and one white.
I have my Sony eBook plugged in to charge the battery; installed Boingo onto this laptop (a wireless internet server that I can use at any computer hotspot, Starbucks and other places, like the Mexico City airport that we have a 5 hour layover tomorrow), my little pink computer had the software on it so I had to download the software onto this yucky computer. I’m so excited; Stacy is bringing my little Sony pink computer to Cancun so I won’t have to use this one all the time. I have also charged my battery on my camera so I think I’m good to go.
Ross has gone to pick up Jennifer, a very good friend that is house and critter sitting for us while we are away. She will take the car to work tonight and will drive back tomorrow to stay until Sunday. We let her use our car as she doesn’t have one and there is no bus service here where we live at all and since she is doing us a great big favor, it is the least we can do for her, she won’t take any money! Harold and Sue are picking us up at 10am to go to the airport and they will come pick us up on Sunday night when we get home, 11:30pm yuck…..they are very good friends to be helping us like this. They did the same for us when we went to Vegas in September. We are so lucky to have so many good friends here in Bucerias!
Well I guess I will get back to doing, I don’t know what, maybe I will check my VHS dubbing to DVD to see if I need to change tapes. I bought 50 DVD’s from office depot a couple of weeks ago and I only have 2 left. When we get back we will have to go buy some more, I still have way too many VHS’s to dub.

Monday February 15th, 2mil10
Today is a red letter day; we opened our first bank account at BBVA Bancomer. We got up a little late but got to the office (we switched days this week) and had a couple of prospects talk with us, not this year though, maybe next year or the year after. We left the office shortly after 2 and went to pay our Telmex bill (phone and internet) we had to take our last month’s bill as we still have not received our invoice for February (it’s due on the 17th) (it came in today’s mail which we didn’t get until we got home).
We gathered up all our documentation and drove to the bank, they have a preferred customer department (English speaking patrons), and so we got in right away and spoke with Anna. She is the one we have been hearing about since we got here, she is soooooooooo nice! We got our savings account set up with debit cards and we now have online banking. We feel so Mexican!
We drove home and putzed until 5:30 when we left for Ross’s meeting. I went with him as I had a couple more things to buy for our family, we are going to be seeing in 2 more sleeps, I am now done, all I need is to pack now and I am ready to go. I was sitting at Starbucks (very Mexican) waiting for Ross and went to get up and Lisa was there waiting for Wayne, her husband. We sat together and chatted, they are leaving tomorrow to see the Butterflies and will be gone at least a couple of days. They live in part time in Saskatoon and are leaving for home May 1st. They come down for the winter, they have a beautiful house, they just built a pool, and we went to their very first pool party!
We drove home and we are watching the Olympics until bedtime. I have to be at the nail place by 11:30 as I’m getting my nails done for the wedding along with a pedicure! It’s a tough life, isn’t it!
Have a great day and we’ll talk to you tomorrow!

Saturday & Valentine’s Day, February 13th, & 14th 2mil10
Before I start I have to apologize for my last post, I started a sentence, got distracted or something and didn’t finish it. I will proof read better before sending!
I was up at 8am to get ready for our PEACE adoption table at Mega, it was hard to get up early, but it’s always fun sitting under a tent chatting with Sue, Harold and anyone else that comes to visit. Ross came to see us around 11, stopped to chat a bit then went into the store and about ½ an hour later came back out and put some groceries in the car and left in his pink helmet, pink shoes and blue scooter. We didn’t have any animals to adopt, a lady had just picked up a street dog from the spay/neuter clinic and hinted for us to take him off her hands but we just let her know that we will be around next month if she wants to bring him in. I bought a really nice bag from the PEACE table that was set up beside us, it is made of old banner material and has a really nice lining in it, it will be great to take to the beach.
We had a great Saturday night, Christie and John came over and we watched the opening ceremonies of the Olympics (Ross had recorded it) and then had the world’s greatest hot wings and Christie brought over some cut potatoes (regular and sweet) for French fries, yummy! John brought over the pina colada mix that we can’t find in Wal-Mart, (everyone else seems to be able to) and we had great virgin Pina Coladas with our meal. We watched The Client on our outside wall with our new projector and they agree with us that it will work just fine for our movie nights.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Francisco got to the house around noon to finish off the roof painting and put my bathroom door back on the wall (it had fallen off). He still needs to come back for a few other things but we won’t do that until after we get back from the wedding.
Around 4 we decided to do something so we drove over to Philo’s in La Cruz to pick up our keyboard and amp. We had a bit of a visit, we found out we won’t be going to San Sebastian again as the new owners have doubled the price! Philo is looking for another spot, I’m really glad we got to go to the last one; it was a trip well worth taking. We also asked him if he wanted to come on the whale watching/snorkeling boat trip we are going on the 23rd, he asked that we remind him again, he is pretty pooped playing 3 nights a week and running the restaurant. Only 6 more weeks of high season! We drove back home to drop off the keyboard, then drove to Vallarta to have supper at Vips, this is a restaurant in the parking lot of Wal-Mart that looks like a Denny’s. Unfortunately it is definitely not even close, we won’t be going back, the food was not good at all. In the Wal-Mart parking lot there was a market that has been set up, we looked around a bit, and I bought a handmade wallet out of some super soft leather. Home we went, we watched a bit of TV then off to bed as we are taking the Monday shift at the office this week.
Have a great week

We woke up this morning with the sun shining, yeah! After my shower I did the prerequisite 20 minutes per side (tanning so I don’t look pathetic to the Canadians who are tanning like mad) I feel like a pork chop! Then I finally
We went to Jarraderris to Ernesto’s where they have the best ribs, pork chops, and almost everything else too. Ross and Dick had the pork chops, poor Harold had an upset tummy so he got soup, Sue had the Tortilla soup, Mary Carmen had the fish tacos and I had the avocado with shrimp, to die for, it is an appetizer but enough food for me for a meal! The weather is great today and we had a wonderful time. Mary Carmen is trying to teach me Spanish, she is a national, and she sometimes only speaks to me in Spanish, I understand maybe 1/3 of what she says when she does, and the funny thing is, is she knows this! Barbara, you really need to come and visit so you can meet all these people! We say you should……it is only a plane ride away!!!
Oh dear, we had a fux pux tonight. The BBCC and the Amigos de Bucerias had a speaker’s night tonight and we had dinner reservations with another 2 couples so we didn’t go, and apparently no one else did either, only the president and vice president and husband went (John, Christie and John), oops. The curator of the Vallarta botanical gardens was the speaker and we are just not plant people, we love plants and love going to the botanical gardens anywhere, we just weren’t excited to hear about it. We will not have that happen again, especially since we love doing things with and for the community!

Ross wanted me to let everyone know that our projector is up and running and he loves it! He has already invited a few friends over for a movie and wings night this Saturday. We had it up and running outside last night, using our white wall for a screen, we watched True Lies, great movie! We are hoping to use our projector for movie nights in Bucerias and hopefully we can either borrow or rent the screen that Korsario’s had in the restaurant, it’s in storage since they closed down.
Yesterday (Wednesday) we did a lot of cleaning, the front yard is now free and clear of all Ross’s junk (pressure washer, old air conditioner, battery charger, shoes, dog poop scooper, etc………) I washed it down and put some plants out front, all we need to do now is move the scooters to the back yard and the front will look great! Now I just have to figure out where to put everything I put in the backyard! I really have to get organized!
Handyman came yesterday, as per usual at 3:30, and got our ceiling in the kitchen and the band room ready for painting. He scraped off all the peeling paint, cleaned the roof with bleach then put a putty on called stuko (not how it’s spelled, I don’t think anyway, its how the word sounds), today he is going to sand then paint. Hopefully the paint will stick this time since our roof is cemented and stuff.
I had one hell of a time with Telmex yesterday. About a month ago I phoned them to let them know that our modem for our internet has been cutting in and out, dropping our signal. They said there was a problem on the line and they will fix it. I called about 2 weeks later asking why it hasn’t been fixed yet, they told me I needed a new modem and someone will be out to install it. The modem came a couple of days later through DHL but no one came to install it, soooooooooooooooooo, I called yesterday asking when someone will be out and the guy I talked to said no one will be out he will help me over the phone. The only problem I had with that is that I needed to unplug the phone to change the filter and I’d lose the call. He said no problem, just call back, so I changed the filter and called back and talked to someone else. He said I didn’t need a new modem the problem was in the line. Aaaaauuuuuuuuuuuuuuugggggggggggggggggggggggg!!! I called back one more time and ended up with the same guy I was talking to that was going to help me with setting up the modem and he read the note the other guy wrote and told me we don’t need a new modem. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugggggggggggggggggg again!!! I gave up.Today when Ross was talking with his Mum the internet cut out and it looked like maybe they were working on it, (sigh) I don’t know. I think I might have to give up.
Today Ross is out trying to find a cable that was supposed to be with our new projector, but of course wasn’t, I think it is to connect the TV with the projector, but I wasn’t really listening to Ross when he told me so I may be wrong. Every time he talks about his audio video gear I kinda faze him out. I’m dubbing more VHS tapes, I will be doing this until I’m 90 I think, gosh we have a lot of home movies and stuff on tapes that we want to keep, like Ross’s boat tape called Thunder Boats!!!
Well I think I might go have a nap, I was up way too early and we are going to Nelly’s tonight so it will be a late night. Hope everyone has a great day!

Happy birthday Jessie!
Today started very early, 7:30 am; we woke up almost before the sun, not quite! Last night I had the best sleep I have had for a very long time, I think I woke up once for about 10 seconds! If I do this tonight and get to sleep in, I will be dangerous!
I think we have had more visitors at the office today than we have had since we started going. The day was perfect, sunny, but not too hot, and it was NOT raining! That in itself is a good thing, at least lately. Lots of foot traffic with John and Christy stopping by, twice, Larry, Bruce, Sue and lots of Canadians, we actually got a lead, at least I think so, maybe 3.
After the office we went to the Twisted Rose and met with Hugh (the owner of the restaurant, Karen (a member of Amigos), and Fred (a audio visual guy) to finalize our movie night we are going to put on for the special needs area of Amigos de Bucerias. We want to put on a movie night at the restaurant every second Monday with popcorn and everything. We will suggest a donation of, let’s say 30 pesos and maybe 10 pesos for some popcorn. We had bought a projector for our own use which we thought would work for this but we found out the one we have is mainly for presentations which last max 2 hours, after that we will burn out the bulb as it will get too hot. We are going to see if a restaurant that had to close down would either lend or let us rent their equipment for a reasonable amount. We are so excited about this, it will hopefully bring the community together to have some fun!!!
After our meeting we drove over to Sue and Harold’s to get the owners of Korsario’s phone number (the restaurant that closed down) so we can ask them, they will email it to us. We then drove home cause handyman was going to be there to finish our outside painting (pictures tomorrow) and started to scrape off the flaking paint off our ceiling in our kitchen to repaint it, again!!! Hopefully since we have cement on our roof now this will be the last time, he will have to do a few more rooms too I’m afraid. Christie and John stopped by with a program for me to print off cards, thanks John, then, we all went to Taco Ixtal (sp?) for supper. We met Kenzie and Shay (already there) also and had a great meal, I tried the hambergesa (sp?) which was not very Mexican but was very, very, very, good! We have made arrangements to meet up with them for a wing night very soon.
Ross is watching the Nabors Drilling show on Discovery channel and I am trying to get my blog done before we call it a night. We stopped at Dick and Mary Carmen’s house before coming home as she wants to try the tide sticks we have been raving about. Dick looks really good and we are so glad he is feeling better now.
Well, I think it is Adios from Paradise, hope everyone has a great week!

Sunday and Monday February 7th & 8th, 2mil10
Do you love my date, I saw that on a poster going into Vallarta today, I have never seen it written that way!
Sunday was a quiet day; we slept in way too late as Ross played in Lo de Marcos Saturday for their annual fundraiser so it was another late night. We pretty well putzed all afternoon until we had to go to La Cruz for the annual Super Bowl party at Ana Banana’s, Juan-Ted and the Amazing Rhythm Roosters played with some local musicians, wow, did we have a great time! There was a silent auction, a regular auction; tables of clothing, electronics and brownies for sale, all wonderful and the weather couldn’t have been nicer! Ross and I went to a small restaurant and had some nachos before the performance and for next to nothing we had a huge plate of nachos with cheese and stuff, I had a coke (sorry Pepsi, that’s all they had) and Ross had Agua.
Today we decided we needed to go into Vallarta to do a major shop of tp and stuff. We first stopped at Comex (a paint store) to buy some more flat black paint for our bars, then to the Pepsi outlet we found out about (just behind Home Depot, kinda) from Bob, then to Office Depot to get some certificate paper for thank you plaques for our small little town and some more DVD’s, I finally got our VHS dubbing DVD player working and I ran out of DVD’s. We then stopped at Costco to pick up a few things and received a call from Francisco (our handy man) that he was at our house with the welder to fix out gate. We rushed home, as well as you can rush in Mexico, as we really, really, really, wanted our gate fixed (the hinge had come off the gate so every time you opened or closed our gate you had to pull up which was a big pain) after we ate our hotdogs really fast.
It is so funny to see a welder work in Mexico, all their equipment is older than the hills (and that is really old), the electrical cords have more holes in them than a strainer and there is no plug cord, just a couple of wires hanging out that they had to take the face plate off our electrical outlet outside to make the welder work. We cringed but it seemed to work, we now have a gate that opens like butter. Francisco stayed to finish the painting and we took off back to Vallarta to finish our shopping. We first went to Plaza Caracol (a shopping mall) for Ross to pick up a new drum head (he busted his playing in Lo de Marcos) and he found a set of drum mikes super cheap so we got those too. We then drove to Sam’s club (Wal-Mart’s Costco) and picked up a cooler with wheels and a few other goodies, then off to Wal-Mart where Ross found his Becel (you would think he found the big dipper (he can’t find that in our sky) he was so excited he almost cryed). We finally finished our shopping with a stop at Mega (we couldn’t find popping corn anywhere) for popcorn and a cookie sheet. If I had known it was so hard to buy baking trays down here I would have brought my own down!!!
We got home in the dark and had some spaghetti for supper and now we are having to go to bed as we have to get up early to get to the office by 9, another week and I will be getting my nails done for the wedding!! We found out tonight that Ashleigh can come to the wedding so we are really excited about that. She is bringing her new beau with her, so we are excited to be meeting him as well.

Thursday, Friday & Saturday February 4th, 5th & 6th, 2010
Hola everyone, hurray, the sun is shining and the birds are singing, all is well in Paradise! Ed is here to look at the car, Telmex called to, I think, let me know they were on their way with my new modem and to ask the cross streets (that’s how people find addresses), but they were speaking in Spanish and could not understand English. They haven’t arrived as of yet though and they called a good 2 hours ago. My new modem came, DHL today, so hopefully Telmex will come soon to install it. I was going to but since everything is in Spanish I didn’t want to screw things up.
Ross and Steve York went to Nellys last night; Steve is an excellent bass player that is sitting in for Ralph as he had to go to Sacramento for a couple of days. They had a grand time; I stayed home to nurse another headache! What is going on here???
Yesterday (Friday) Shelly came over to clean my house, I love Lily but she is so busy I am trying out the wife of a friend of ours. I finally got our VHS/CD player working, hurray! This actually takes all our home movies we have on VHS tapes and dub them onto DVD’s. Now if you know Ross, he video tapes everything! OK, he has been much better since we moved down here, we probably have 50 +- tapes that now I can slowly throw away as I dub them and keep all the DVD’s. After Ross’s meeting we drove to Centro Bucerias to have supper at The Twisted Rose and to ask them if we can use their space for our movie nights we want to start to raise funds for the special needs portion of Amigos de Bucerias. The food was great but no one seemed to know where Simon or Hugh were (they are the owners). Supper was great, we had chicken over pasta with alfredo sauce with a lettuce salad.
We had to get up early this morning as we have our monthly Amigos de Bucerias breakfast meeting at Ixta (a restaurant that allows us to meet and serves breakfast). Ross called Simon at the Twisted Rose before breakfast and asked him if we could use his space and he said “no problem”! This is why I love this little town so much; everyone seems to want to help. Ross stepped up to let everyone know that we have a projector and enough movies to satisfy almost everyone, Christie and I are going to pick out the movies! It was suggested by John that Ross should not pick them out as all we would be watching would be Discovery stuff, which is good, but we will need some variety. We are hoping to find a big popcorn machine so we can sell popcorn before the movie.
Ross is having a snooze as we have to leave here around 3ish to drive to Lo de Marcos for the fundraising event for the Amigos de Lo de Marcos. We were there a couple of weeks ago; we play in the town square and had a great time! I’m going to bring a chair this time as a blanket on the grass is not great for my back. We are hoping not to have too a long night as Ross is playing at Ana Banana’s in La Cruz on Sunday afternoon for the Super Bowl party.
Well I guess that’s all I have for now. Everyone have a great weekend!

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday February 1, 2nd and 3rd, 2010
Well, did we have a storm last night, wow!!! The winds, we are told, were 160kmh (the 3rd in 60 years) and palm trees and every other kinda tree’s were blown down all through Bucerias, Puerto Vallarta all the way to Lo de Marcos. We had a storm surge coming through our front door from the wind and the rain. Ross is in his element! We were up most of the night last night listening to the wind and the breaking windows and rain and stuff being blown around. We are very lucky, our Bucerias weather station is in ruins but our table and chairs up top have survived and everything else in our little world!
Ross picked up Bruce and Bernice from Guayabitos and brought them for another visit to our piece of paradise. They got here around 3 and we went to the beach for an hour or so then back home to get to Nuevo by 6. Bernice and I sat at Starbucks until she decided she wanted to visit a shop that she could see from where we were sitting, and I ended up spending money instead of her. I picked something up for the girls and Stacy to take to Cancun with us for the wedding. We went to Riveria for supper, which was a mistake for the restaurant as they had 2 servers phone in sick and they were full to capacity and had people waiting! Which is good, but bad, to top it off someone broke something off in the women’s baño so there was water squirting out of the wall something fierce! We had a great meal and got home to watch a bit of TV and for Bernice and me more wine!!!!!
We had to wake up early for our stint in the office and we also had a meeting with everyone today so up at 7:30 to be at the office at 9. Since it was raining quite steady and we didn’t have much foot traffic, once the meeting was over we drove home to meet up with our friend to go for lunch. We stopped off at Karen’s place on the beach but they were full so we drove down a couple of blocks and had a great lunch at Luna Luna. Ross and Bruce had breakfast (it was great) and Bernice and I had a camarón (shrimp), pineapple, and I think chicken sandwich (kinda) and it was great. Because it was cold we all ordered coffee (I ordered a shot of Kailua with mine, which was good cause Mexican coffee tastes funny to me) except for Bernice, she had cappuccino!
After lunch we drove to Wal-Mart for some wine and stuff for Bruce and Bernice to take back to Guayabitos with them. We came home to pick up their suitcase (they spent the night in our motor home) and we drove them back to their motel. We were so toast we decided to drive back home (Bruce and Bernice wanted to buy us supper) and we vegged, it was great. Neither one of us have been sleeping well so we decided to go to bed early and then the storm hit. Wow, it was scary and exciting at the same time! In the middle of the night I put a blanket in front of the front door in front of our bedroom also so the rain was soaked up a bit. I even moved my jewelry box (it is on legs) so the wood would not get wet!
We woke up (we really were up several times) at 11 ish??? I didn’t want to get up! But Ross made me. We had a luncheon meeting with a good friend of Ross’s at the Mayan at 1 so we really needed to get up. It was very interesting driving to the Mayan as we had to drive through Nuevo and it is much closer to the ocean than we are and we saw so many palm trees and other trees down. Really close to home a 20’ fig tree was down! The roots of the trees are not really embedded in the ground I don’t think cause the trees are down but not much ground is moved.
We had a great luncheon with Gwen at the Mayan and then went up to her room to meet her husband, son, daughter-in-law and grandbaby! The grandbaby is one month younger than Melanie!!! We had a great visit and while driving back home our exhaust problem got huge and we ended up having to call a tow truck. A couple of days ago we heard a hissing noise in our exhaust and called our mechanic to come today to see if he could fix it. As we have had a lot of rain we cancelled today and rescheduled for tomorrow, wrong move. The exhaust completely came apart from the underside of our car and was dragging on the ground. Ross went with the tow truck and I took a taxi home.
We are now watching Criminal Minds, its 8:20 pm and we are very tired from staying up so late last night so I think it will be bedtime soon. We either have to have our car fixed tomorrow afternoon or we need to rent a car as we need to be in Guayabitos by 7 tomorrow night for Nelly’s! So goodnight for now and have a great day tomorrow!
Ross Kim and Critters in Paradise!
