Friday July 31th and Aug 01, 2009

Friday

I’m sorry, I am sitting in front of the TV watching Criminal Minds, I know, I should be outside sitting watching the geckos. I made some popcorn and Ross is too, (but he uses the real air popper, I use the microwave) having a glass of wine. It feels like we are in a sauna and I swear I have lost 200 pounds in the past week! I’m waiting for the rainy season to be done, something like winter, so we won’t feel so blah!

We went to Costco today to pick up a green bedspread, we aren’t using them right now cause it is too hot (I’m not complaining, you don’t have to shovel it) we just have the sheets on until this heat is not so severe (I’m not complaining, you don’t have to shovel it, Oh I forgot we left our shovel at home! (Our other home)). We also went to Sam’s club looking for a can opener, we finally found it at wallyworld! We stopped at our neighbourhood nursery and picked up a couple of flowering vines for 100 peso’s, they have pretty pink flowers on it, we put it up against the wall along with our palm tree.

Ross made an executive decision (that means that a decision has been made without the benefit of consulting our other half) and decided we needed a day off, so our trailer has not been opened today. I really wanted to find my new shower curtains (and of course hooks) which I haven’t yet, and I’m still looking for a couple of other things I haven’t found yet.

We have decided we need a new pool in our backyard as the one we have needs a completely level area, which we don’t have. We need one that has a frame with it, we are looking at getting one, we think the one at Home Depot is a good one, but we are still looking. The lot next door is for sale, they want 280,000 pesos which about 25,000 cdn, if you want to donate to the cause we will put you up in the dirt?!?!?!?!? We could tear down our wall on the east side and put in a yard.....with grass and palm trees, fountains and everything! In the mean time we are going to have a local handiman to build a palapa (a straw roof canopy, like a gazebo) on our roof so we can at least enjoy the breezes off the ocean. We will also need some stairs built to enjoy our palapa, but in the mean time we will need to get an extension ladder. Our skylights leak too, so this will be fixed by the handiman too.

I can’t think of anything else to say, I’m hot (I know, you don’t have to shovel it) and tired, we need to be up at 8am tomorrow to be at an Amigos of Bucerias meeting at Ixtel (a restaurant), close to the beach for breakfast.

Talk to you soon!

Saturday

We started off today with a breakfast meeting at a wonderful restaurant called Ixta right on Lazaro Cardenas (Which is the main road (cobblestone) going up the coast from The De Cameron Resort going north along the beach), for our very first Amigos De Bucerias meeting. This is a group of non-Mexican volunteers trying to help with programs like Peace (a spay and neuter clinic for dogs and cats along with adoptions), a recycling program, Food bank, and so much more. They found out Ross is a drummer so now he has been recruited by the pastor of a church for a kick ass gospel band, and another group also. Breakfast was great, we had fresh fruit, pancakes, French toast eggs, bacon.......coffee, orange juice, all for 50 pesos each ($5.00 approx). We are now for the sum of 300 pesos (30.00), we are members of Amigos De Bucerias until 2010! Yahoo!

Today, again, is a banner day, we found our concrete nails (very expensive here, all we have is concrete) and ........................ wait for it........................my new shower curtains. I hate using someone else’s shower curtains or bedding or for that matter bed...............so I am so excited to have them now hanging in our showers. I have to tell you we have a toilet, sink and shower off our master bedroom, (which is mine) and the same for a master bathroom (which is Ross’s, off the living room, he said, this is his words.....”I can watch TV while on the can”) Pretty gross heh! We also have a bathroom outside, which I guess we will use for outside stuff, right now it is holding extra towelling and Kleenex. By the way, we bought a couple of shelves that go over the toilets in each of our bathrooms as we have NO storage, and guess what we found in the trailer.................the one we used from the house, we forgot we packed it, so I am going to take the one out of my bathroom and put in the one we brought from home, (it is a nicer one).

We found out from our good friends Christie and John, you might have heard me talking about them, that Liverpool ( a department store in PV) has a good selection of scooters. So off we went, please remind us not to go to PV on a Saturday afternoon, the 200 was a parking lot, to Liverpool which is right beside Wallyworld across the street from where the cruise ships come in. I took one look at my baby and said, wrap her up. Now, nothing in Mexico is quick, after paying for my baby, and waiting for the paper work, it was probably more than an hour, in which time Ross got antsy, went to the TV section of the store then bought an electric can opener. I bought a black (sorry to take so long, I had to fish the info out of my purse), Phantom Vento R5 Sport Touring bike! I still need to go onto the internet to see all about my baby, but she sure looks cool. They are going to deliver it on Thursday, which will give me enough time to get it insured and plated. (on a side note, we found out what we need to do to get a Mexican drivers licence, you go to them and you pick out the license you need and they say OK here you go, only in Nayarit, in Jalisco you need to write an exam and stuff, we bought our house in the right state!) We bought one for Ross too, he is getting a blue one but it won’t be available for a couple of weeks.

We brought some Jeep parts from Edmonton to a guy called Scott that works at the Mayan in Nuevo and he came to pick up the ones we have rescued so far from the trailer, there may be more, we are not quite sure. He says he’s gonna buy a house from Ross in the next year and has several people he works with who are looking now.

We are off to Christie’s and John’s to do some internet stuff........and post my blog, then we will go somewhere to eat, then will pick up the doggie dogs to go to the beach, cause they deserve it!

Talk to you soon
Ross and Kim
