Wednesday September 30, 2009

Good afternoon everyone (Buenos Tardes) another hot day in paradise, its 30 according to our thermometer outside on our patio, I hear Edmonton is quite cold today. I’ll try to send some warmth through my blog!

We didn’t go out to dinner with the guys last night; I don’t think any of us really wanted to go. We did go to the Twisted Rose (we got lost going there though we forgot it was Ave Mexico on the other side of the river) for the fund raiser. I had a Margarita and a glass of wine and Ross had two virgin strawberry daiquiris. For every drink you buy the Twisted Rose was donating 10 pesos and Elements (John and Christie) was matching the donation to be divided by 3 different charities. I also gave 200 pesos to Peace for the animals. After a very nummy burger we went to Britannia where Ross got his ya ya’s out playing the drums with some of his buddies.

We got home quite late but I couldn’t resist going into the pool (it still wasn’t quite full but oh well, I could still float), it was wonderful. I just looked up at the sky and saw the moon and some stars, the clouds were going away so every time I turned my head I could see another star!

We woke at about 10 and were lazing in bed when Christie called to let us know that Lily was sick and won’t be coming over to clean the house today. So all we really have to do today is (besides writing this) to wait for Steven (our mechanic) to get here so we can follow him to his shop to see what’s up with the car. He is going to drop us off at Gecko car rental where we are going to rent a car for a couple of days. We weren’t going to do that but Ross has his meeting tonight, then we have to deliver pizza (6 of them) to the turtle guys, that would be rather difficult to do on the scooters.

I just put in a wash for my trip to SC, I went into my not so hot out clothes and will have to wash them as they have been sitting in a “not so hot clothes suitcase”, according to my weather sources it has been going down to as low as 10 at night, brrrrrrrrrrrr. I’m bringing some jeans and Capri pants along with some short sleeve tops that are a little heavier than what I am wearing here. I’m going to pack a sweater and will bring one on the plane as it is always so very cold on the planes. I fly straight there on Saturday on a Delta flight leaving here at 2:10 and arriving in Atlanta at 6:51, then come back, changing planes in Mexico City on the 10th. I have made a reservation at the Red Roof Inn in Atlanta for the night of the 9th as it is at least a two hour drive from Greenville to Atlanta and my plane leaves Sat morning at 9:15am. I didn’t want to wake up at 3 and make Stacy wake up at that time to drive me to the airport!

Well, it is 1:30 now and Steve was supposed to be picking us up at noon for the car……go figure, you would think he is Mexican, oh ya right, he is! He finally came close to 2 and we followed him to his shop? Ha ha He has a yard (field?) with a secure gate (thank god) and he has stalls that cover about ½ of the car the other half sticks out. His tools are hanging on the brick wall and he had I think 3 cars he was working on. He had his guy jack up the front of the car (with a jack you would use to change a tire) then the back passenger side and pulled out a fuel filter. He put something in it (I think it was gas cause it was in a gas can) and swished it around and a whole bunch of gunk came out of it, yuck! Steve is keeping the car so he can flush out the fuel system, I asked him if Ross should use premium gas and without hesitation said of course (I have been trying to get Ross to buy premium rather than magna since we moved here) I poked my finger at him and said “I told you so!”

Steve drove us to Gecko car rental to get the rental car and then we went to the Bucerias market to get Melanie something I can bring her when I leave on Saturday! I found 2 dresses so I ended up getting another for Cami, fair is fair. They are soooooooooooo cute!
I also found another spoon rest, not as nice as the one Ross broke but I will keep looking for the perfect one. (Did I mention that Ross broke the first one?!?!?!?)

Once home I put some laundry in the dryer then we both jumped into the pool and floated. My dryer was making a clanking noise so I got up and opened the door, guess what, Ross forgot to take a pen out of one of his shirts and now we have ink on the clothes, I was washing my white Capri’s and some skirts, I’m a tad upset. We didn’t have any water, so I am soaking the clothes in bleach in a dish pan waiting for water so I can wash them again. They hadn’t been in the dryer very long so I hope the stains have not set. Its 8:30 now and we still don’t have any water.

Ross got back from his meeting and we’ll look for some supper. I hope everyone has a great night!

Ross and Kim in paradise!

Tuesday September 29, 2009

I got a call from Christie last night letting us know that we don’t have to work in the office for the next couple of weeks because we are going to spruce it up. So instead of getting up to get to the office by 9, we got up at nine and got to the office at 11. We boxed things up moved the furniture to the centre and Paul started to pull nails and then we did a shit load of patching. Now this office is on the beach road (no, the beach is behind us) and is about 150 sq ft in total, so it’s a really small place and with 6 of us in there vacuuming with a shop vac, using a broom and washing the walls, it was fun.

Once we got all the patching done we went to the new Wal-Mart that just opened up today on the other side of Mexcales, it wasn’t as busy as we thought but the parking lot is so small! Cars were parked willy nilly all over the place. It is of course tinier than ours back in Edmonton, but they have a lot of brands brought in for us gringos, I even found kitchen bouquet (for making nummy gravy)! I found 4 very red seat cushions for my kitchen chairs (that’s all they had), but I will need to buy two more as I have 6 chairs.
total.

It was cloudy when we got up this morning but it is really hot out and the sun is just beating down, it will be nice to get rid of all this humidity, they say another 2 weeks!
Our pool is about ½ way filled now so it won’t be until tomorrow until we can go in it again.

I’m going to post our blog now as I don’t think I will have time tonight. We are meeting Christie, John, Cheryl and Paul at the Sirloin Stockade for an impromptu meeting, then there is a fund raiser at the Twisted Rose here in Bucerias for every drink sold they will donate a certain amount of money to several charities we have here, and John and Christie are going to match them pesos for pesos, wow! So that is at 8pm, then Ross wants to be at Britannia (a bar in La Cruz to play for awhile) so we are kinda busy tonight! I will fill you in on the night tomorrow.

Bye for now from Bucerias

Sunday September 27 and Monday September 28, 2009

Since it is 5pm on Monday and I didn’t write yesterday’s blog, I’m going to combine the two. So here goes, let’s see if I remember yesterday! I also have to apologize in regards to the pictures I put up on the blog yesterday. When I got the pictures up on the blog it gave me enough room beside the pictures to write what it is about, but when I posted it, it got all jumbled up. So when I post more pictures there will not be any explanation.

We love our visitors, but boy it is nice to be alone too. We woke up late, ok Ross woke up late I woke up at 8:30 it seemed like I was awake forever until I got up. It has been a fabulous day, we putzed around for a while when all of a sudden Ross started to clean up all his equipment he has had sitting on the patio outside since he took it out of the trailer, and guess what he said when he got it cleaned up……………now I get to get the new drums. (I had told him he could buy Oscar’s Drums if he cleaned it up) (I will put a picture of our nice a clean patio, Ross does have a couple of things still there but I have tried to hide it with the red BBQ centre).

We had a really wicked thunderstorm early last night; we went up to the Bucerias Weather Station (the BWS) to watch it, wow, there was almost constant lightning and the thunder was incredible. The clouds were coming from the west very quickly and butting up against the mountains.

Ross cooked some great steak last night for supper and we had a last soak in the pool before we had to drain it in order to rescue the foot for the frame from underneath the pool. They were missing the foot when Ross and handyman put the pool up but they couldn’t find it, apparently Ross walked all around the bottom of the pool to smooth it out and to get out all the creases, the foot was in the very centre of the pool.

I have been conversing with some new friends via e-mail, Deb and Ron going to be moving down here and I have trying to help them out by answering questions they have (there are always questions when you plan a move like this). They are coming down next on the 20th of October so we are hoping to get together for supper and get acquainted; we are looking forward to meeting them.

We went to bed after watching some Corrie Street (we have two Sundays of programs to watch). It rained most of the night so it was quite cool to sleep.

Ross had a crappy sleep last night, he was awake most of the night, brain would not shut off, so today isn’t the best day in paradise. After lounging around and having coffee we got our butts into gear and took back the safe we have just bought at Costco the other day, it was locked and no key and/or instructions. It is very difficult to take anything back here in Mexico. If it was broken when you bought it, well, why did you buy it!!!!! But it was great, we had no hassle at all, they credited my credit card and we were done. This is the first time in history that we went to a Costco and didn’t buy anything (except for hotdogs and pop for lunch, they have great hotdogs, but that doesn’t count).

After getting back from Costco, (and after I changed into my wonderful new sarong, it is cool to wear in this heat, thanks to Lynn, she had one and it looked so comfy that when we went to the market I bought 3) I took the sheets out of the dryer that Lynn and Trina used, then got into the pool and slowly, ever so slowly, pushed the foot out from underneath the pool floor. I have both hoses filling it back up, we do have the option of the fire department coming over to fill it up, but that seems wrong somehow.

Ross is taking some speakers over to Philo’s I think he is trading them for a sand filter for our pool. The sky is clouding back up again; I think we are in for another down pour, which will be good, as it will help fill up our pool!

Some excitement for tomorrow, Wal-Mart opens in Mexcales tomorrow; we are going to pop over there after our shift at the office! I think that’s it for today, if anything exciting happens later I’ll let you know tomorrow.

Everyone have a great night!
As always, Ross and Kim in Paradise

ps............the pictures are of a gecko we had on our roof last night and a couple of pictures of our outside patio, minus most of Ross's equipment!

Saturday September 26, 2009

Hola from a very sad paradise today! Lynn had to go home and Trina had to go home. We never saw Trina again after dropping her off at the hotel, I guess she was not enjoying herself with us, but Lynn’s visit was terrific! I got up early just to spend a little more time with her, we went up to “The Bucerias Weather Station” (this is up on our roof under the palapa) and watched the sky and also of course the building of a new house across the street from us on Rio Lerma. Lynn floated in the pool while I sat on our patio drinking coffee (life could not get much better).

After dropping Lynn off at the airport, (Trina took a taxi) we stopped by Costco to pick up some shredded mixed cheese (4 cheese) and ended up buying a very nice watch for me, sunglasses for Ross, some grapes, a safe and 2 more beach chairs. We always do that, though so does everyone else who visits that nasty store! After coming back home I scooted over to Mega to have the jewelry store there take out some links from the band of my new watch cause it is way too big. I picked up a couple of apples, toilet paper and a 3 drawer plastic shelf for more storage in the kitchen.

We were getting ready to go out to eat with Dick and Mary Carmen when my watch band came apart. I will be going back to get that fixed. The band is titanium so it is very light so I’m glad it fell off on the bed rather than somewhere else because I would not have felt it come off. It just started to rain when we left the house and by the time we got to the airport the streets were flooding, the rain was coming down in buckets! We were going to have the buffet at The Sirloin Stockade but the lineup was very long so we went to Chili’s instead. I had the shrimp Alfredo and it was very good, Ross had the hamburger and I think Dick and Mary Carmen had the steak. We had a really nice time visiting with them, when we are dinning in a large group you don’t get much chance to talk with everyone so it is nice to meet one on one too.

We didn’t get home until 10 or so and we were supposed to go over to Philo’s but we decided to stay at home, so that is what we did!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Ross and Kim in paradise.

Friday September 25, 2009

Hola to all! What a wonderful place to live. We got up shortly before 11 (Lynn actually slept in until 9:30! We had a leisurely coffee then Ross, (he he he) had to go into Mexcales (the next town to us past Nuevo) to pay his speeding ticket and get his license plate back. The ticket was for 480 pesos (48.00 big ones) but because he paid quickly they reduced it to 240 pesos (I think, Ross is in the pool and I’m quite settled on my chair to get up and ask him, I also have a margarita at my elbow and it will melt). Lynn made a delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs, peppers, onion salt, salsa and cheese and I don’t know what else but it was very good.

Today was the day that we drove to a lovely little town north of us called Rincon De Guayabitos. It is a lovely little town about 40 minutes away and it is a quaint little fishing village/vacation spot that is in own little bay with a couple of small islands in the bay. We stopped and did some shopping (I bought some dresses for Cami and Jordan (my granddaughters I am going to see in October), a cool shirt (don’t tell him) for Stacy my son and all I have to do now is find something for little Melanie and Jessie. I don’t know what to get Jessie as she is from Costa Rica, so everything we have here, she has lived with all her life. The weather was perfect, blue sky and fluffy clouds, the drive through the Sierra Madre mountains is unexplainable, the road is only two lane, the trees form a canopy over the highway, there are a lot of small towns along the way.

We stopped at a fabulous restaurant on the mountain and the view was to die for. You could see the entire bay, the sand is white and the water is the colour of the Caribbean ocean! I have taken pictures but my battery ran out on my camera, so I am charging that now as we speak, so tomorrow I might post a blog with just pictures. We drove back part of the way and then turned off to go to Sayulita, another village except this time it is a funky, groovy surf town. We got out and walked around a bit, a guy pulled me over and wanted me to buy something, I found a little turtle made out of onyx and I asked him how much (quanto) he said 350 pesos, I looked at him and said ya right, I live here! I walked away and he asked me how much I would pay, I looked at it, it’s really cute, and I said maybe 50 pesos, he said what, 200, I said 50, he said 150 I started walking away and he gave it to me for 50 pesos, it went from 35.00 to 5.00. Go figure! After Sayulita we continued down the coast to La Cruz then back to Bucerias. What a wonderful day!

We got home at about 5:10 and we needed to leave at 5:30 for Ross’s meeting at Paradise Village. We went because Lynn hasn’t seen Paradise Village yet (it is a very large time share and condo project in Nuevo Vallarta that is very expensive with a dock full of very expensive yachts, sailboats and powerboats) and we were going to go to go to Jennifer’s restaurant “Rivera” for dinner after the meeting. Lynn and I walked to the dock (you can’t go very far) then walked back to the mall that has a grocery market and a shop on the second floor I needed to go to, to get another yellow coaster for my kitchen that seems to have gotten lost. We walked around a bit at the market, I found some yellow rubber duckies for our pool, and I’m so excited they squeak and everything. When Ross got out of his meeting we were told that at the end of every month we do a dinner at, you guessed it, Paradise Village (one of the people that own in the complex goes to the meetings). We had 3 birthdays and everyone (but of course us) brought something. Ross hadn’t been to a meeting lately as we have had Lynn and Trina with us) so we didn’t know. We had hot dogs and burritos with all the stuffing it was great and we had a birthday cake and ice cream after dinner. Ross swam a bit, (we took our suits out of the car when we came back before going to the meeting), because of being in the sun most of the day we were so beat we ate and then left. When we got home, because it is now the tradition, we made margaritas, watched a little TV, I did my blog, and we are going to bed at 11:10, Criminal Minds is on.

So goodnite (buenas noches)

Thursday September 24, 2009

We didn’t get up as early today as we did on Tuesday, it is very tired out. We woke up to a rainyday, it is overcast but very warm!

We got to the office at 10 and could hardly stay awake until 2. We drove to Juan’s to pay him for the sofa table and the other DVD rack.2300.00 pesos! We spent the day at the pool (I know it doesn’t make a good blog, but sometimes you need to relax) and then around 8:30 we took off to Philo’s for some awesome pizza and some great tunes. Ross played the second set and we had a very nice chat with Oscar the sax/ guitar/ drum and piano player. We are sure going to miss him when he moves to the states.
We got home around 12 ish and made another batch of margarita’s, still not as good as the first which means we really need to continue to practice until the perfect Margarita is born………………………………….

Ross, Kim and Lynn in Paradise (very tired)
Wednesday September 23, 2009

Yeah! We got to sleep in…………until of course the phone rang. But it was shortly after 11 so that was ok, Juan called to let us know that the two pieces we ordered from him (a behind the sofa table and another smaller book case for the rest of our DVD collection) we going to be delivered right away. Lily got here around noon, so we showered and Lynn made a wonderful lunch of tuna, mayo, salsa, tomatoes, peppers and some spices, it was sooooooooooooo good, she is an excellent cook!

We are going to Rhythm of the night tonight and it is a two for one deal. We ended up with an extra ticket so we were trying to get rid of it, we called a couple of single people we know, nada, so we called John and Christie to see if one of them would like to go with us. Well……………………..it ends up that now Dick and Mary Carman, John and Christie, Cheryl and Paul, Ross, Lynn and I are going along with a friend of John and Christie’s, Daniel, who is not single so they are not trying to set Lynn up, however, his is a long distance relationship. I’ll report tomorrow on how it went.

Ross and Lynn drove to La Cruz to a pool store to see if we can find a pool filter that fits (again). I have been putzing around organizing things (that is of course what I do) while Lily is cleaning my house……….have I told you lately how much I love Mexico?

We decided not to go anywhere so we just went into the pool and floated until it was time to get ready for our excursion to Los Caletas for Rhythm of the Night. It was fabulous, (we ended up being a group of 10) we boarded the catamaran that I believe holds up to 150 people and went up to the top deck. Christie, Cheryl, Lynn and I ordered shots of tequila along with our drinks, it was a fun night! The boat follows the coastline south to a secluded beach owned by John Houston where they shot the famous movie Night of the Iguana which made Puerto Vallarta famous. Liz Taylor and we think Richard Burton was in the movie and this is where they fell in love and ended up getting married. On the way to the beach we actually drove around a couple of The Los Arcos rocks which they very seldom do and we saw some dolphins swimming in the water, what a treat.

They played a little game on the boat, everyone was given a white sticker (they put them on our shirts) and if someone you talked to said “no” you took their sticker and the one with the most stickers won. It was so much fun, it is surprising how many questions you want to say no to, for example “do you want to make love to me?” or for most people “do you live here?” At the end of the night the guy that won gave his prize to a couple on their honeymoon (I think it was a coupon for dinner).

By the time we got to Los Caletas it was dark (we got some great shots of the setting sun) and as they only use candles for ambience it looked beautiful, candles everywhere. We were lead up to an outdoor amphitheatre and almost as soon as we were seated the show started. It is very hard to explain the show, it featured a tribal sacrifice of an antelope (we think) with all the actors in full costume with painted faces and torso’s, wild feather headdresses on one guy, there were two guys painted up and they moved around the stage like monkeys, doing somersaults, one handed pushups and they danced. The stage was on the bottom of a hill and the hill had long steps up with an alter at the top. They played the drums, one guy played the didgeridoo, some had maracas and there were a lot of other instruments.

After the show we had a marvelous candlelight buffet with shrimp, fish, beef, veggies and one of the best flan’s I have had in a very long time. We drank some wine, some Mexican coffee with cinnamon and kaluha, talked and ate and ate and ate! All too soon we had to board the boat and come back home. The crew put on a show for everyone and when we were almost home the rain started so everyone from the top of the boat scampered down and went undercover, of course not Ross, I think he stayed up there the whole time. We said goodbye to everyone and drove home.

On the way home guess who got a speeding ticket?????? Yup, Ross did. We were going 100 in a 60 kilometer an hour zone. The police where very nice, they took our license plate and we will get it back when we pay the ticket. Of course John and Christie drove past us and I got a call from Christie laughing at Ross. I love Mexico! When we finally got home Lynn and I had some tequila and squirt (very good) and finally went to bed close to one.

Another great day! Talk to you soon

Tuesday September 22, 2009

You have no idea how hard it is getting up at 7:30 in the morning when you haven’t done it for a while; my eyes don’t normally function until 11. It is beautiful out though, the sun is shining, and hardly any clouds in the sky and it is quite cool! We got a hotel booked for Trina and all of us headed down to the office (us to work and Lynn and Trina to go to the beach). We got to the office and no one was there, which would have been ok but we didn’t have a key to get in. I phoned Christie and she was at a showing so we dropped the girls off and went to John and Christie’s house to get John’s office key. We found out that we had the key on the key ring of Shay’s that they gave us to look after the dogs while they were in Tepic. We got back to the office and we are now wondering what to do with ourselves. It is still low season so not many people walking around.

John and Christie stopped by to see how we are doing and stopped a while to chat. We went across the street and saw a couple of condos that were to die for, especially the two floor condo at the very top where Lynn wants to find a man/boy/mutant who what’s available to buy it for her! It is only 350,000.00 and a deal if I ever saw one. Lynn took pictures maybe I will get some from her and put them on the blog!

We went to Vallarta Adventures and reserved places on Rhythms of the Night adventure where we take a catamaran to Los Caletas to observe the mysticism and cultural anthropology of a jungle cove. You have to look on the internet for all the info, I will post how it was!

We played in the pool some until the thunderstorm struck then we got ready to go to Britannia, another bar in la Cruz. We had a great time, it was more of a blues feel to it and it was great. Ralph played bass, Mike played guitar (his girlfriend owns the place) and Carlos played drums at the start. Everyone played different instruments at different times, Ross played the drums and Philo played guitar for a while. We are now at home an pretty fried as we got up early this morning and it is now 12:05 and we are old and need our sleep (besides having 2 wines and 2 shots of tequila) so I will say adieu for tonight and will talk to you tomorrow!
Goodnite from Paradise
Ross, Kim and Lynn
Monday September 21, 2009

Hola from paradise. We woke up to a cloudy day which is just perfect for going to Vallarta to do some serious market shopping.

I think I mentioned that our pool came without a filter so on the way to our shopping excursion we stopped in at Home Depot, Sam’s, and Wal-Mart looking for the filter. We didn’t find a filter, but we got a couple of inflatable chairs & noodles for the pool, and a couple of really nice tops. We drove down the Malecon and thought it would be a good idea to go to Mama Lucia’s tequila factory because the mountains looked like it was going to rain soon and that is where the best tequila in the world is. The drive to Mismaloya was breathtaking we saw Los Arcos (3 rocks protruding from the ocean, these rocks are some of the world’s best snorkeling and scuba diving spots), the condos and the homes and the views are spectacular! We took the tour of the factory (only because that’s where the tasting is) and learned how to make tequila the old fashioned way. The tequila is to die for! I have allowed a select group of friends taste my orange tequila but now since I live here I can have all I want…………….hurray!

Once back in Vallarta we parked close to the bridge by the market and started shopping. I bought 2 beautiful sarongs, one black and the other multicoloured with sequins and one just plain pink one. I wore it last night (Lynn brought a couple down and they looked so comfy and cool) and it was definitely comfy and cool! I also bought 2 beautiful butterflies and a sun/moon for out walls out back. Trina bought a sarong and Lynn bought the most cute gecko, turtle and butterfly from one of the stalls.

After shopping we stopped off at Costco to look for a filter (which of course they didn’t have) and then we went to Galleria Vallarta (very nice shopping mall across the street from the cruise ship dock) and went to the Sirloin Stockade which is a huge buffet. I haven’t been that stuffed for a while let me tell you. By this time we are all tired and we do have to get up at 7:30 tomorrow morning to go to our first day of work. It’s like the first day of school (If you remember that far back) I had to make sure my clothes we nice and clean! We floated in the pool for a bit then we decided we needed to make another margarita! Ole’ According to Lynn it wasn’t as good as the nights before so we will have to try it again until we get it right.

Trina has decided to move to an all-inclusive, she is not liking the unbillboard part of Mexico. So tomorrow we are going to book a room for her for the rest of the trip. We didn’t get around to purchasing our Rhythm of the Night tickets yet, that will be for tomorrow too along of course with going to the pool store (we phoned our friend Harold and he told us where it was) to get that damned filter.

Well that is about it for today, again another wonderful day in paradise.

Sunday September 20, 2009

How was every body’s day? We had a great day! Got up after a very good sleep and sat upstairs on our palapa drinking coffee and enjoying the day. The “girls” went to Mega and had a great time shopping and checking out all the neat things you find in a store in a different country. We picked up some refried black beans for a snack later (which were very good a long with chips and salsa) and I bought some chorizo sausages for supper.

Once we had unpacked the groceries and had some lunch we drove up the river where there is a market every Sunday, but we were late and they were packing up. There is a really nice highway, really scenic, that we drove on (I have noted this highway before) and we found out it is the same highway that runs a couple of blocks from our house. We drove to John and Christie’s to feed their 3 dogs, (They are in Tepic visiting their son that is in Bible College) then we went down to the beach. Ross automatically went right in, I didn’t go in as my knee has not healed over yet and I don’t want salt water stinging in the wound. Trina waded in and actually got up to her neck, she got some water on her lip and she found out how salty the ocean is. Lynn walked and got her feet wet looking for neat looking rocks.

We drove north beside the 200 to see if we could find the RV park that we had seen from the highway. We found it; it is gorgeous, right on the beach but booked up right through the high season. We thought we might be able to park Betsy there and rent her out or have a beach house. We drove to Centro Bucerias and parked, and we walked along the market, and yet again, everyone was packing up to go home. Which is what we did, after stopping at Oxxo for water for Trina and eggs.

Today was a red letter day; we made Margarita’s in my brand new margarita machine. It shaves the ice and blends it in while mixing the drink, just like a blender! They were very good too, unfortunately it is so hot the ice melted but we rimmed the glasses with salt and drank them anyway. We had a great supper, Ross had steak and the three of us girls had the Chorizo sausages, BBQ’d with rice and veggies and a salad! Very nummy. Ross, Lynn and I got our bathing suits on and jumped in the pool and probably stayed in there for at least an hour, it was so nice.

We were all pretty beat, the sun and humidity plays a large role in your energy level. We didn’t stay up very late and we need to get up early for the market and Malecon.

Saturday September 19, 2009

Another beautiful day! Lynn and I took off to drive into Nuevo Vallarta for a nail appointment. I hadn’t been there before, but a friend of mine told me they were good so I thought I should check them out. Very nice inside, a little farther into Nuevo than I thought and no one spoke English! They finally figured out what I wanted and as soon as some serious nail stuff was in the works (I had 2 girls working on me) the owner came in and she spoke English. While Lynn was waiting she decided to get a spa manicure. So now we both have fabulous looking hands. We came back home and while we were making a late lunch Ross took off to Philo’s to drop off a keyboard and amp.

I left for the airport to pick up Trina shortly after 5, it started to sprinkle a bit but nothing serious. It was so good to see her and I was so surprised that she only had 2 suitcases and a carry on. With our Trina I was kinda scared on how much she would bring. Normally when we go for our very first long trip we bring everything including the kitchen sink. Before even going outside she took off her jacket and was sweltering. I warned her that it is the rainy season and the humidity is very high. It sure was a culture shock for Trina once we were on our way home. I’m sure her head swiveled 360, something like the horror flick! To top it all off as soon as we got home we had to leave for our 7 o’clock dinner so she landed smack dab into dinner with 10 people she has never seen before, to a very Mexican restaurant with a menu written in Spanish! Yikes! She did very well. We took a short walk down to the beach as Trina has never seen the ocean before, it’s funny that the first thing she said was “It’s so noisy”, I never thought of the ocean to be noisy. After dinner we went to Philo’s and we had a great time. Our pool that handyman put up this afternoon has about 2 feet of water in it so we got our bathing suits on and floated a bit.

On a side note I found my first gecko poop! It looks like little tiny rabbit poops, soooooooooo cool.

Well, bye for today, stay tuned for some fabulous times tomorrow!

Create a great a day!

Friday September 18, 2009

Hola! Another beautiful day in Paradise! We woke up to a beautiful day, very humid but no snow! Lynn, Ross and I sat up on our rooftop palapa with our coffee and tea and had a fine time catching up. You can see everywhere up there and it is looking awesome. It’s funny how the Mexican’s are staring at us when we are up there, like, what the heck are you doing sitting on your roof, are you crazy. But it’s funny, across a few houses over we noticed a chair sitting on the second floor of an unfinished house, that wasn’t there before, maybe we are setting a tradition!!!

We took off to Mega, going to get some groceries and a bigger fridge then we were going to go to the beach. Great plans, however things sometimes happens that you don’t expect, we spent more time in Mega than planned then had to come home to accept delivery of our new fridge, we didn’t think they would deliver so soon.

I digress, we got to Mega and found Jesus, he speaks English, we asked him about buying a fridge and he said for us to finish our shopping and once we were ready to find him. We actually found him the first time when Lynn started taking pictures of the shelves of Mega (they have more than ½ of the isle full of oils) and he came up to her and told her she needed special permission to take pictures and would she like him to get that for her. She of course said no, explained to the man that she was not a secret shopper and just wanted to take a picture for her friends at home.

We got all the groceries we needed (without my list that I forgot at home) and Lynn went to find Jesus and then I went to find him, I found another man that spoke English and found Jesus while we were going to the fridge department (actually the appliance department but the fridge department sounded too good to pass up) we went with him to the cashier pay for it (6,480 pesos) then went to the security to have them stamp my bill for the 15 day warranty, then we went back to the “fridge” department and it was a go. In the meantime we bumped into our friends John and Christie and had a nice chat with them.

We got back home, went up on our palapa and watched the clouds roll in. Ross took off to his meeting and Lynn and I went for a walk in our Barrio with the dogs after the fridge was delivered. (The delivery guys (a girl and a guy in a pickup truck) brought the fridge in and left. Lynn and I took the cardboard off, plugged it in as our frozen food was actually thawing!) As we were walking we saw funny looking wacko ducks, lots of dogs, I petted our resident baby horse, chickens, roosters and lots of kids. There is a purple house that we can see from our upstairs palapa that we tried to get to. We figure it is in the gated community that we found by the highway that I didn’t know existed. It started raining while we were coming back from our walk and it was a good thing that we got back when we did cause it rained a lot harder for a while. So much for the beach tonight!

We had a great dinner of BBQ hotdogs wrapped in bacon, beans, ensalada (salad in Spanish) with poppy seed dressing (yum), pickled beets and pickles. We are just putzing on the computer now, almost ready for bed. Lynn and Ross finished munching on some fudge we bought from Banff in April, chocolate and orange, they both drooled while eating, and it was quite disgusting! Ha ha ha! Had to say it!

We are expecting Trina to come tomorrow, she gets to have dinner with us (the old crowd) and we will probably do the ocean tomorrow night. Well, that will be for tomorrow’s blog.

Create a great day!

Thursday September 17, 2009

Another wonderful day in Paradise! Lynn locked herself outside of Betsy (she locked the door on the inside and closed the door, not good. Ross had to climb in through the driver’s window to open her up. We won’t be doing that again!

We met Dick, Mary Carmen, Sue and Harold and off to Vallarta we went for some 2 for 1 BBQ ribs, wow, were they fantastic! The restaurant is in the Romantic zone of Vallarta, past the cruise ships, Wal-Mart, the hotel Zone and the market. Our ribs were 130 pesos for two big plates. We drove through the tunnels on our way home and showed Lynn Fluvial (a housing complex in Vallarta close to Costco), they have some really nice townhouses there, we looked there to buy but it is in Vallarta and the houses are really close together without any yards.

We got home around 6ish and took some cervaza’s up on our roof top palapa and watched all the rain clouds fade away into blue sky. The weather is so funny here, blue sky in the morning and early afternoon, it get’s cloudy mid afternoon (sometimes but still really hot), it looks like we are ready for a downpour then nothing happens. Very strange!

Lynn had a gay old time taking pictures from up on our roof, we had horses, chickens, roosters my cats,……..twice Sunshine goes to our next doors lot and cries and wines for me to come get him, once he actually jumped into the house through the window, thankfully no one lives there yet. Tigger walks along our wall, jumps onto the roof of our storage shed then is clawing madly trying to get to the top (you can hear his nails just clawing to no avail) he finally falls down between the storage shed and the wall, thankfully there was nothing down there that could hurt him. Shadow jumped across to the other roof and was telling Tigger to come too, he thought about it a couple of times then, thank god, he decided not to. Shadow decided to come home too!

Off to Philo’s at 8:30 for some pizza and good music! Wow we had a great time, Philo’s band played first of course, Lynn had very good coronas and I had some great tinto vino (red wine), then we changed to Margareta’s and Pepsi. Once Ross and Tom (bass player) played we ordered some absolutely fabulous pizza and enjoyed the ambience of Philo’s. I did a bit of dancing with the girls, but by half way through one song I thought for sure that my ankle was going to fall off, it hurt so much. Once the song was over, I bowed out and went back to the table. I won’t be doing that for a while longer.

We didn’t leave until about midnight and got home and had a wonderful conversation outside on the patio until about 1:30am, it’s bedtime.

Hope everyone has a great Friday

Wednesday September 16, 2009

Hola from Paradise, another beautiful day, Lily came around noonish and worked until about 4 getting our house and Betsy ready for company. She is such a sweetie, my Lily, her husband is not working, now until Monday, so she made sure he cleaned her house and made dinner since she had to work today!

Trina called yesterday and asked if she could come visit, so she will be here on Saturday! She has never been to the ocean and just got her passport, so she is so excited to be coming here. (She is my other daughter). She got laid off at Nabors at the end of August and needed a place to chill out before she started looking for a new job. I’m so excited for her to come visit, she will stay with Lynn in Betsy. Trina found a flight thru West jet for around 400.00!

John and Christie stopped by to see how things were and were here when Ross and Lynn got back from the airport. Lynn is looking to buy and a friend of hers will be here when she leaves and she is looking for a place also, awesome!

We toasted Mexico with Tequila then had some cervaza’s before we took off to Tower Pizza to get some pizza for the turtle guys. We took one and ate a bit before going to see the turtles. They had some more babies in the pool for us to see before they send them off the cold cruel world of the ocean (well the warm world of the ocean). We are getting old so once we got home we made sure that the air was still working in Betsy and we said our goodnights. Lynn flew from Vancouver to Las Angeles and then to PV so she has been up since about 2am so she is very tired, actually, so are we. Before going to bed we walked up the stairs to our roof and spent some time just looking and talking. They are making a hell of a noise from the bull ring tonight (there is a band there) but it seems to have calmed down now. We are watching America’s got talent finale and then it will be off to bed for us.

Have a great Thursday

Tuesday September 15, 2009

Happy Birthday to Ashleigh!!!!! She is twenty today! Hurray, no more teenager. Tara, Ashleigh and Grandma went to the Keg for a birthday dinner.

We are getting ready for Lynn’s arrival tomorrow; I stripped the bed in Betsy and am washing the sheets. We still had bits and pieces in Betsy from coming down here so I think we have her cleaned out now.

We were invited to 2 parties today. We got to Oscar’s at about 3, he is the sax/guitar player in Philo’s band and boy does he have a nice house. (Ross took pictures so if I remember I will send them with the blog). He is a block or so off the beach and has an infinity pool on the 3rd level of the property! We met a lot of new people there, some Spanish, some English, speaking both languages, we have to learn Spanish. The kids were playing magnet darts, playing in the pool and were having a great time, Maya, Oscar’s 2 year old daughter asked me why I had a bandage on my knee, of course in Spanish, Oscar asked me if I knew what she said, I shook my head no and he told me she wanted it to get better. She is soooooooooooo cute.

We got home around 5ish and took off to Ron’s house in Nuevo 6ish. He lives in a 3 bedroom condo close to the beach, which is absolutely gorgeous, looks brand new so it probably is! He is on the ground level and when you go out his doors, past the patio table there is a huge pool. He had his 1st birthday of not drinking and he threw himself a surprise party for about 30 of his closest friends. What a great guy and we met some super people. I met this one lady, Karen, she is probably 60ish and they live at the marina in Vallarta after living 5 years on their 42’ sailboat. Another Lady, Kim, she and her husband work for American airlines and they live at the marina on their 42’ catamaran, must be nice! Maury said he will take us sailing this weekend, I hope it comes true.

We got home around 9:30, got our jammies on and went upstairs on our palapa and watched the lightning. I brought my computer up and started my blog up there. My sister Joan called and we had a nice conversation catching up on things. Shadow came upstairs with us and jumped from roof to roof to top of RV to shed to walking along our wall, to walking on our roof, our neighbors’ roof and their wall. He is having a blast. He is our adventurous cat; the other two are good on the ground. I don’t know how Shadow got upstairs (we caught him up on the wall a few weeks ago before the stairs, I tried to get him to go up the stairs yesterday and he didn’t want to. I hear that cats don’t like climbing anything that they can see through). But when we came down I called to him and he gingerly walked down the stairs with me. I’m hoping Tigger and Sunshine come up too, it’s fun being all together. Gracie may come up, I know for sure that Bandit won’t, his legs are too sore for him to climb a long way.

Well, I have two loads of laundry done now so I think now it’s time to hit the bed; we will have a very long day tomorrow with Lynn here. Lily is coming in the morning, then Ross will pick up Lynn from the airport at 3:30 and we will stay up late catching up.

Everyone have a great day tomorrow and we’ll talk to you soon! (Only of course you call us at 780-669-7539!)

Monday September 14, 2009

My newest Granddaughter was born today at 3:18 eastern time. Her name is Melanie Danielle, she came in at 7 lbs 11 oz is 21” long. Stacy is sending pictures later today.

We picked up our newly registered FM3’s at immigration today so I’ll be able to travel to South Carolina in October without any hassles. We stopped by Oscar’s studio this afternoon, it’s really close to our house, and wow is it nice. Top quality gear and guess what, as Oscar is moving to the states he is selling his drums, Ross wants to buy them. He is actually asking a very decent price for them and they really sound great, but we don’t have enough room to store what we have let alone buy more. So, I told Ross if he gets rid of all the stuff he has on the patio (and not into any living area) and can find a place for the drums too, he can buy them. I’m a sucker for punishment!

Juan picked up the trailer this afternoon also and it is now sitting along the highway by Juan’s shop and we are going to sell it. We went and paid our electricity bill ($2500 pesos) so we will have to find a way to not use so much power. Off to Mega we went and we picked up a few things and decided we are going to buy another fridge and replace ours with it and put ours on the patio. We don’t have very much room in the one we have now, and when we pick up turkeys and other things we will have a cool place to put them. We can’t buy in bulk as we just don’t have the room, and it is so much cheaper to buy that way.

We cleaned out Betsy a bit, we need it ready for when Lynn comes on Wednesday. There isn’t much in it but bits and pieces. I will take the sheets off the bed tomorrow and have them all clean for her. We can’t wait to show off our new house!

Ross went to his meeting and I putz around doing dishes and planting some of our plants. When you buy the plants they come with a bit of dirt wrapped around a black plastic. We just stuck the plants in with the plastic into plant pots, now I’m actually taking them out of their plastic and putting them in the pots with more dirt, thanks to Christie she gave me some, and I will definitely need some more though!

I am attaching some pictures; I know that my tags don’t attach to the pictures so I’ll let you know now what the pictures are. My new stairs and my roof top palapa (thanks’ to Wal-Mart), now I have taken pictures of the stormy skies. To the back of the palapa is facing south and to the front (when you don’t see the palapa) you are looking north. It is sprinkling with a bit of a light show right now, we hope to get some more rain as it hasn’t rained much and a respite from the heat would be good. We bought a plastic table at Mega today and that will be put up tomorrow. Ross made me add the pictures of my injuries and I added a picture of a puppy I want. I am at Philo's and a little boy came in with this puppy, Isn't he cute!

Haveta go, Coronation Street is calling!

Sunday September 13, 2009

8 am is way too early to get up on a Sunday! Handyman was here at that time to finish the pool pad and help the stairs guy to put up our stairs to our roof patio. As soon as he is done I will take a picture. Right now it looks like a stairway to heaven………. I finally put the weather back onto my computer so right now it is 31 here with 66% humidity, 19 in Edmonton with 40% humidity and 27 with 45% humidity in South Carolina, we win!

Ross has taken our friend and guitar mate to the airport, he is flying to Greenville SC where he is from for work and will be home, I think, 2 days before I fly there, it sure is a small world!

We got a phone call around 4 pm from Sue asking if we would like to go to their house to use the pool. So off we went and had a very good time there. They have a marvelous pool, below ground and bigger than we will have. They have a very shallow spot where I sat (since I have oooowies, cause of my sand incident) they had a white plastic chair where I sat so my foot wouldn’t go into the water, (which I want in our pool, just don’t know how to do it) and they have seating in the water and then you have room to putz. Ross and Harold putzed, Sue sat on the seat so she was mostly under water and I sat of course in the chair. Great company. We decided we were hungry so on the way to the Rivera restaurant we took a bit of a detour and ended up where the paramedics are, which of course Harold knows because he is a firefighter here. A wonderful girl looked at me and cleaned my owies (I now have bandages on the top of my foot and on my knee) and put some dressing on, which I have to go back tomorrow to get the dressing replaced (at no charge by the way). Harold threatened that he will call his buddy and the paramedics will come to my house tomorrow to change the dressing, we will see about that.
We went to the Rivera Restaurant where Jennifer works, we had a great meal. Ross had calamari, Sue had a burger, Harold had some great pasta and I had the Tequila shrimp, awesome.

Sue and Harold drove us back to their house and now we are at home and we are chillin’. Ross s of course watching A & E, Criminal Minds is on and I am finishing the blog. It just finished raining outside, I will put the outside light on because I still need to send a picture of our new stairs.

Peace Love and Hugs
Ross and Kim very full in Paradise
Ps: I left it too late to take a picture of our stairs, it is way too dark outside. I will send a picture on tomorrow’s blog!

Saturday September 12, 2009

Our Edmonton phone number is 780-669-7520 anyone in Edmonton can call it free and get to me if you’re not in Edmonton it will cost the same as calling Edmonton! Gaye-Lynn I called you earlier but you weren’t home, we’ll call again tomorrow!

Hurray! It is a very red letter day here is Bucerias. At 10am Liverpool was at our gate with my Baby’s keys, at 10:15 TelMex called and said they will be over (we have internet! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay) and our VoIP phone works. I called Pamela at home and on her cell, no answer, what a bummer, but we did talk with Barbara (Ross’s Mum) Marilyn, (Ross’s sister) and we left messages on both Ashleigh and Tara’s cell phones. I just called my son Stacy in South Carolina, it’s all for freeeeeeeeeeeeeee. You can call me free if you live in Edmonton at 780-669-7520 or if you’re not, it will cost you to call Edmonton.

After getting showered and stuff I took off to Pemex to get some gas for baby and Ross filled her up and off I went. It’s kinda hard because the bike is sooooooooo heavy. I was going along great until I ran into some soft sand and down I went. Road Rash! Some guys in a truck stopped and helped me pick up baby, another girl helped me get her started, (she wouldn’t start) all the while I’m in shock and I’m bleeding from the knee, elbow and top of foot. But I got back on her and drove her home. Once I got into the yard I yelled for Ross to help me get her up on her stand (she is too heavy for me, I found the kick stand, I’ll have to use that) he said I should let you do it by yourself because you will have to do it eventually, I yelled, I’m bleeding, come help. That’s when he came to help, men! You have to be half dead!

It is so nice to be on the internet at our own house! I got a hold of Pamela, she was out driving with Lexi, and apparently she is getting better at driving. Pam told me she is going out with Ross’s daughter Ashleigh for her 20th birthday party, what fun! I have spoken with Stacy, and Jessie is going into the hospital on Monday, they are going to move the baby’s head down and will induce her, if this doesn’t work they will have to do a C section. So either way I’m gonna be a Nanny again! Hurray!

Handyman and friend are out in the yard working on the pool pad. They say that they will be done tonight; it really looks like rain so I don’t know how far they are going to get.

If you open this website http://www.banderas news.com/ 0909/eden- turtletalk. htm and you go down to the second last paragraph you will see our names thanking us for doing pizza for the turtle guys! My name has never been in print before! It’s kinda cool. I think I might print it!

We were going to go to Bucerias Gardens (a restaurant close to the beach) and when we got there at 7 they were closed. The Twisted Rose Restaurant is really close to it so the 10 of us went in for a great supper. I had the Texas burger and Ross had a Crocodile burger, he won’t order that again but enjoyed the other half of my burger I couldn’t eat. It came with fries, which were delicious and Michelle, the server was great, she didn’t even flinch when we asked for separate bills.

Off to Philos in La Cruz for Ross to play and “GET PAID FOR IT”, well he didn’t get paid before we left a midnight but I’m sure Philo will give him his 200 pesos. We have been invited to Oscar’s house, the great sax and guitar player that plays at Philos on Tuesday at 2 for a get together, we are to bring our bathing suits because he has a pool. I had a nail appointment for 2 but what the hell; I’ll cancel and make another. We met Cheryl and Paul at Philos, they are realtors with John and Christie also, and had a great time talking with them. They live at the Flamingos, I haven’t been there but I hear they are nice, and we found out that Lisa Hewitt the Country singer we had at an ABPAS event lives right beside them, she comes down in February and we are going to see if she will do some jamming, won’t that be fun.

Cheryl and Paul volunteer at the recycling depot we have here in Bucerias and she wants me to come down to see what they are up to. She says they have so much fun and it is really close to our house. I hear it is kinda a really dirty job but she said they have so much fun she doesn’t think of it. Now you have to know that Paul had volunteered for a long time and he told the group that Cheryl was going to come help and they said “the princess is coming to help us?” They are I think in their 30’s and come from Calgary. He owns a construction company and flies home quite a bit, I think Cheryl lives here year round.

Well, gotta go to bed now, it’s almost 1am and I have to get up at 8 to let Handyman and friend in to finish the pool pad and put our stairs up. They need to start early as Handyman has to start his other job at noon. Gosh he is always working, I told him he better be nice to his wife when he is home because she has 3 kids to look after when he is working. I’m sure her Mum lives close as do all the Mexican families (or most of them) so I’m sure she gets help, but it’s just not the same when your husband isn’t home!

Everyone have a great Sunday
Ross and Kim
Thursday September 10, 2009

Another glorious day in Paradise. We actually woke up at 10 and got up! We had a wonderful cup of coffee out on the patio then decided we better get a move on to get some stuff done. After our showers we took off to John and Christie’s to 1) see where our reimbursement cheque is from the insurance company 2) phone TelMex to see where our internet is 3) see if the pension cheque went into the bank cause Ross couldn’t find it deposited in our bank 4) To check e-mails wow, and we got them all done. The cheque is in the mail (ya right) I am now on the number 2 list for TelMex (more important than number 1 that I was), pension chq went into the bank, and e-mails are done!

We went to see Juan, he was supposed to be at our house at 2 pm (I called his phone twice and got voicemail twice) to take the trailer to his shop to sell. We stopped by his place on the way to Mega and ended up buying a table kinda thingy (you will have to come see it, I can’t describe it) painted red (Rojo) because that is the colour we are going to have our steps painted, oh ya, he is gonna come to our house tomorrow to move the trailer. We can never go to his shop without buying something, he has great wooden furniture. Off to Mega and we got a couple of things we need (Lily wants sandpaper to clean the toilets (I’m gonna watch her so she doesn’t ruin the porcelain) and she wants a longer mop to clean the floors) some milk and a few other things.

Besides typing the blog, with a glass of wine of course, I have Ross (my hunny the drummer), Ralph (bass player) and Gene (guitar player) sitting in the living room listening to Ralph’s cd as they are going to be playing together every Thursday night at a bar in a small beach town about 30 minutes away from Bucerias. Apparently they get 1500 pesos along with free drinks, food and a Room, I get every Thursday to my self when I don’t go which I think will be often as we will need a babysitter for our babies if we both go. We are off to Philo’s for the jam night (all 4 of us), I don’t know whether or not I’ll continue this tonight or just say good night now. We’ll just have to wait and see!

Hi, I’m back, we had a great time a Philo’s, we had a very long brown out but the power came back to life and they played for a while. Philo has asked Ross to play Saturday night because his regular drummer can’t make it so it looks like we will be there on Saturday night also! It’s tough being retired! We stopped at Eugene’s house cause we are taking him to the airport to go to “South Carolina” for a few weeks and we need to know where he lives. Well let me tell you, it is a very large house 2 blocks from the beach it has 2 rentals, 1 1 bedroom and the other a bachelor which apparently are rented out until the fall, they have a pool and a one bedroom house to themselves. Wow. They are only asking 496,000.00 for the lot, we truly believe it is worth at least one million. We don’t want him to go because he is a great guitar player, his wife apparently doesn’t like the heat, go figure, this is one of the reasons why we are here!

There is some lightning to the south of us so I’m gonna go outside to see what is happening.

Create a great day!
Ross and Kim in Mexico

Friday September 11, 2009

Only in Mexico! The day started out stellar! Liverpool came to my house to deliver Baby at 11am. Wow, she looks wonderful, her right mirror was a little loose but I fixed that right up with an allen key, however they forgot one little minor thing……………the keys! They told me that they would come back with them but they took longer than they said they would and we needed to go out. With my Spanish dictionary I wrote them a note and taped it to the gate asking them to put the keys in the mail box. I received 3 phone calls while we were out the third one was in English and I explained to them that I had to go out and to please put the keys in the mailbox.

The place we had to go was the start of a new adventure in Real Estate! We went to the construction site of La Fronda, a new development across the highway from the new Wal-Mart that they are building in Nuevo that we are the sole realtors for. It is a huge development of houses in a gated community where you can either buy a house already built or you can buy the land and build yourself. It will have the condo feel where there will be restrictions on the house, but wow, what an opportunity to buy in paradise. You guys are going to get tired of us letting you know of good deals, if you or someone you know is looking to retire here please let them know about us, we need to money! After a look at the plans and some updates we took off to Nuevo Vallarta to Starbucks to have a very informal meeting (this is actually the only kind of meeting there is) with 5 other people, of course with John and Christie (John is feeling much better now, he had dengue fever). We all are working with Elements Realty and John and Christie had some minor business to discuss. One was keeping the office open on the beach street which we are with each couple working 2 days a week from 9-2 in the office. We are just mainly there to greet people and introduce ourselves and show them listings that they may want to look at if they are looking for real estate. Our days are Tuesday’s and Thursdays and I think we will split up working Saturdays. The good news is we found out that Wal-Mart is opening at the end of the month. We might have a kiosk at the front of the store, I am told there will be an entrance where there will be lots of stores and businesses you have to walk by before you actually get into Wal-Mart.

I received a call from Telmex while we were at Starbucks asking if we had internet yet, I said no, and they said “No……..Are you sure! I said yes and they hung up. About half an hour later they called again, they don’t speak English, and I thought that he said he wanted to come into the house to see the modem. I told him we were not home and I could be home in 30 minutes. Well, we got home and I still haven’t seen Telmex and I think it has been about 4 hours now!

When we got home I ran to the mailbox to get my keys so I could play with baby and the only thing that was in our mailbox was our electricity bill! No keys. I got on the phone and I actually got to the sporting goods department and found out that Carlos the department manager was on supper break and I was to call back in an hour. Which I did and I was told that Carlos was not in today, but I finally got to a person that could talk a little English and they transferred me to Carlos! In explained what happened and he asked me if he could call me right back and asked for my phone number, I gave him my cell number and about 20 minutes later he called back on Ross’s cell and said that the delivery guys didn’t feel comfortable leaving the keys in the mailbox and will I be home tomorrow between 12 and 1 and they will drop them off for me? Now, this is a company that dropped off the black bike, found out it was broken and told me I could drive it until I got a new one! There is no logic whatsoever! Oh well, again, welcome to Mexico. So I have a very pretty red scooter sitting on my front patio with no keys and we have no internet, I love it here!

It’s now 6:35 pm and he I sit at my kitchen table drinking a glass of wine, Ross is at his meeting and I am a bit on the warm side, the temp is 35 degrees and the humidity is 70%, a bit on the warm side if you don’t have air conditioning! I do have a lot of ceiling fans and they sure help. Handyman and friend just got here to work on the pool pad so I’m gonna say bye for now.

Peace Hugs and Love
Ross and Kim in Mexico
Ps, Our good friend Lynn verified she will be here next Wednesday to stay for a little over a week, we are so stoked to see her.
Pps I have added some pictures, I have been asked for more pictures, I will try to put the captions in the same order as the pictures, we will only see if I’m correct once it is posted to the blog.
1) Our Mini Super down the road (they have little stores everywhere called mini super, they are independent and sell anything they want. I think mostly pop and bread and stuff one big one off the highway sells liquor)
2) Lot next to us for sale next door. They had it cleared to the dirt about 3 weeks ago!
3) Our new steps that will be installed on Sunday
4) Our new mailbox (where baby keys were supposed to be)
5) Betsy out front of our house
6) Our two bikes
7) My kitchen table where I am typing my blog (I’m of course not in it as I m taking the picture)
8) Our pool pad in the making. Handyman just told me his friend will be here at two tomorrow and he will come later and it will be completed. We just need to have Dick come over with his pickup to move the trailer because Juan just isn’t trustworthy!

Wednesday September 9, 2009

What a wonderful day it is! We got up shortly before 11 and made coffee to sit outside on our patio. The puppies started barking up a storm so I went to the front door and Lily is standing there. As I am rubbing my eyes I say hola and let her in, of course I’m still in my jammies and I grabbed Ross’s robe for him. I thought she was coming at 1pm, oh well, time to start the day. I went to grab a shower, (my kitties haven’t been doing their job very well since we have been gone, there were a couple of dead bugs in my bathroom) and when I went in to the bedroom Lily already had my bed made. Wow. I got dressed and took off to Liverpool to get the paperwork in order for Baby, this was the very first time I drove to PV all by myself. She will be delivered n Saturday. There was a cruise ship in the harbor, that’s nice to see!

When I was in Liverpool I looked at Mother of the Bride dresses, I think I might buy one here, they had some really nice ones. I am going to go back when I have more time to really “Look”. Once I got home I putz around the house, (did I mention how glad I am to be home?), started some laundry, unpacked and played with the kids.
I took off to Ross’s meeting, well not really, he went to his meeting and I shopped. I picked up some really good tortilla chips with sauce and a few other goodies. I bought some red straw placemats for my kitchen table with yellow round straw thingys for glasses. We are now at Jenn’s restaurant Rivera doing our internet cause guess what, we still don’t have it at home. In had Tortilla soup, excellent, and Ross had a hamburger. We are going with Zac tomorrow to TelMex to see what is going on.

Have a great day

Yuckky, its hard getting up at 6:30 in the fricking morning! My eyeballs don’t work that early in the morning. When we got downstairs and checked out Ross went to the slots I went to Starbucks, the Carmel macchiato went down soooooooooo good, I almost could function. The Van picked us up by the tower we were staying in and it took almost an hour to get us to the airport, he kept going around in circles picking up people, I think he was new. Once we got to the airport everything went according to plan, we got to our gate, stopped at Burger King for Ross to have breakfast and me to have a coffee and orange juice, we sat down and my coffee was like water, so it went into the garbage, the orange juice however was great.

The plane left a little late and the movie was the one where the museum comes alive with Adam Sandler, very cute! We had chicken and a bun, some cookies and a pop and coffee one the flight and got to Mexico City in lots of time to catch our connecting flight. That was of course until we got to immigration. We showed them our Mexican Visa and our temp FM3’s (ours will be ready to pick up tomorrow, we had to register them) and they didn’t like what we had, he kept asking for the green FM3. He took our passports and Ross’s Temp FM3 and took off to the office. He came back a couple of minutes later and asked us to come with him to a room while they verified our Visa’s. We sat in the room for about ½ hour (he told us 5 minutes, they are always later than what they say) they gave us our documents back along with a letter letting us go back home. We had to sign a copy of the letter with copies of our passports and temp FM3’s and they let us go through. Whew! We were wondering if we had to stay in Mexico City for the night.

Once we got through immigration we stopped at a duty free shop and I found a watch I like. Ross said I couldn’t buy it cause we weren’t leaving the country, but on the plane coming here they were selling duty free so what the heck, all they can say is no. They asked where we were going and where we came from, after looking at our itinerary they let me buy it, hurray for me. It has a white band with a square face and a second hand.

We ate at a very nice restaurant bar in the airport, I had a great ham croissant sandwich and Ross had a clubhouse with guacamole and we think goat’s cheese, it was yummy. We went to our gate (#9) and sat and waited and waited and waited. The plane was to depart at 7:45 and the pilots and flight attendance got to the gate at 7:55, we were 1 hour late and the pilot explained to us the reason why we were late was because of the rain around the airport, it had nothing to do with not having a pilot.

Sue picked us up at the airport and dropped us off at Jenn’s restaurant so we could pick up our car. It is so good to be home, our puppies and kitties missed us so much, or we missed them, it was hard to tell. I got a glass of wine and sat out on our patio, I don’t think I will ever not enjoy this!

Love hugs and peace

Monday September 7, 2009

What a wonderful day in Vegas, we went to Bay City Diner around noonish and Ross had the hamburger and I had the French toast, yummy. We got back to the hotel for Ross to look for a reel to reel player so he can play some old old old reel to reel tapes he has from the 60’s??? (I think) One guy had one for $50 but couldn’t find a box to put it in as UPS and Fed Ex is closed cause of the holiday so we are going home without one. I spent most of the day at the pool enjoying the sun then the shade. Reading, people watching and snoozing……………..what a wonderful day!
I think this is the most relaxing day I have had on vacation for years. I left the hotel but just to walk down Freemont Street to check out the people and the vendors in case I needed to buy something. No such luck but the atmosphere is electric! I am sure looking forward to my little house in Bucerias though; I think I’m getting too old for this shit.

Ross picked up another couple of shirts from Binions Hotel and Casino, I found a very pretty mauve top at the store in the hotel so we have shopped out. We brought 2 extra suitcases for stuff and one is full and the other is about half full, we are just hoping that Mexicana Airlines allows 2 pieces of luggage per person without any extra charge!

Ross had his last hunk of prime rib tonight for supper and I went all out and had steak with garlic shrimp, excellent as always. While Ross was trying to lose some money on the fish slots, I stood outside and watched a Chinese man do some sculpting of people’s heads, amazing that you can take a clump of clay and make it look like an actual person! Then I watched one of the kids make pictures with spray paint cans, newspaper and a bit of cardboard. The picture is a little bigger than 8 1/2 x 14 and he has it on a table that swivels, then they spray some different colours onto the cardboard then with a putty knife or newspaper or their fingers and reveal the colours underneath and make super pictures. Some of the universe, some of New York or some other city, they draw quite a few of the twin towers and soldiers with the flag (we are in the states don’t you know!).

We are now upstairs, Ross on his computer (it’s his turn to have the internet on his computer) and me on mine writing our blog. It’s a little after 10 and we have a wake up call at 6:30 in the morning so I will say bye for now, see you back in Bucerias!

I wish everyone a great day!

Sunday September 6, 2009

I hate to say this, but another cool day in Vegas! We went to the pool, not as great as we thought it would be, the water was cool and when we came out I needed the towel to keep me warm. What’s going on? The guy that drives the bus to and from the airport told us that this summer was cooler than normal, it is still 85 – 90 outside but it’s quite windy and there are a lot of clouds in the sky.

After waking up at about 11 am we showered and went to The Bay City Diner (go figure) for breakfast, then off to Binion’s (another hotel on Freemont Street that Ross has bought all his wild shirts for cheap $$) to see if they have any new stock in, but alas, no. So off to Wallyworld (hopefully to get all the stuff we got yesterday that we had to leave there because of a bomb scare!) We went to another one, but we didn’t like it, I couldn’t find a turkey baster, the sandals I had, the shorts I found, or the birthday cards we picked out. We also found out that Robaxasal (back pills that we buy where the Advil is) is by prescription only. Wow! We got what we could and ended up going to the first Wallyworld to get what we couldn’t from the first one.

After the Wallyworld adventure we decided to do the Fashion Mall on the strip to see if I could find a “Mother of the Bride” dress for Pam’s wedding! After finding a parking spot we took off to Macy’s and went into their long gown department. Ross sat around while I picked a few dresses and tried them on. I didn’t fall in love with any of them but there was a grey to black dress that was just beautiful but I wasn’t quite sure what Pam wants me to wear so I thought I would call her. I left a message on her voicemail but she didn’t call back so we left and I will go shopping with Jessie in South Carolina when I go to see them in October. I think I will have a better chance finding a dress in the states rather than Mexico, their selection is limited! After shopping is when we went to the pool and ended up being really cold, so we went into the hot tub and we felt much better!

We went to (guess where?) Bay City Diner for supper, Ross had the 1 pound prime rib and I had a French Dip (they were both very very good). We have been doing a bit of gambling here and there throughout the day and I think we are a head a bit! Three Dog Night were to be playing tonight on the main stage but they ended up playing at the little one and we thought that we would enjoy the band we saw in the lounge last night better. We went to the lounge and they weren’t playing! Where did they go? The sign said they were to be playing tonight! What a bummer! We took off to the balcony our hotel has overlooking the main stage and watched a band play 60’s music, they were good. We gambled a little more and here I sit on the bed in our hotel room, sipping wine and typing today’s blog! We might go and get a snack before bed, I don’t know, we were trying to go to bed early tonight so we can get up a little earlier tomorrow so we can get the stuff done that we need to get done before we turn the rental car in.

That will be in tomorrow’s blog. Hope everyone has a safe and fun day!
