We are leaving for Vegas on Friday, where did the time go??? I met Zac at Telmex to see what is wrong with our internet, the wait would have been at least an hour so we went to the cashier (she wasn’t busy) and she suggested we call. So Zac and I drove to my house to see what the message is on our phone cause that wasn’t working either. We got home and, wow, our phone is now working (our Mexican phone not our VoIP) so Zac called the 1 800 phone number and was talking with them for more than an hour! They gave us a folio number and said that someone should come to see us within 72 hours. So here we sit, again with no internet, but we do have a phone.
After Zac left we took off to Old town Vallarta to find a grocery store that specializes in American and Canadian brand of food. On the way we stopped at Office Depot so I now have some hanging file folders for all my paperwork. We drove down the Malecon (which we haven’t been since we moved here and had lunch at Bubba Gump’s, which is very expensive but god the food is good. We both ordered appetizers because they were the cheapest (about 9.00) Ross had garlic shrimp and I had a salsa with avocado and chips, Ross helped me with mine. We continued on and took the second left past the bridge, (by the market) parked and started walking to try to find the market. We found it walking back to the car, unfortunately we went past a professional music PA store and Ross bought himself a Peavey Powered mixer for 4,400 pesos. We found the store and I got some wild rice (at least I think it is) some sloppy joe mix and some Ocean Spray Cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I still have a list of things I would like (Werther’s candy for one) so we still will have a shopping list for Vegas.
Off to Costco we went looking for some good meat to eat and we found some hamburger (we will see how it tastes), some steak and some pork. We also picked up a wet/dry vac, 3 very nice woven baskets, some pop and some wonderful seedless grapes. I’m eating them now and are they ever sweet and firm! It sucks that we have to soak all the food we buy in antibacterial stuff because I had to wait at least 10 minutes for my grapes to soak and another hour or so for them to get cold. One of my friends commented on how we soak all our food (that we eat the outside of) but so many foods that we buy in Canada and the States from Mexico that people don’t even think of cleaning it. Next time you go shopping see how many fruits and veggies are from Mexico.
While we were driving home Ross mentioned that we were supposed to stay at home because some gravel and cement was to be delivered for our back, once we got home it was stacked very neatly out our back gate. I talked with some kids in the neighborhood (well not really talked) and played with their dog and gave them some candy. They keep going through our garbage so I’m hoping if we befriend them they might now tear our garbage to shreds.
Well I think that will be it for today. Hope this finds everyone happy and healthy.
Ross and Kim in Paradise.
