Tuesday September 01, 2009

We waited until 1:30 for Steven our mechanic to come check out our car, he was supposed to be at our home between 9 or 9:30. Lily came over at 11:30 to clean so we now have a clean house and a car that runs a lot better. We have to take it in to check other things out but at least it is not coughing and sputtering.

We have finally unpacked the trailer, there is nothing left in it except for air which I refuse to unpack, it can just stay there and get stale! Ha ha funny……… not. I have managed to put all our hundreds of family videos on our shelf we bought just for our videos, DVD’s and cd’s. We thought for sure we would have to buy another shelf (6’ tall by 4’ wide) but Kim is sooooo good at putting things away we won’t.

Ross put together the shelf unit that we bought for our shed and promptly broke it. I guess it was a good thing because it was too tall anyway. We still have his dad’s shelf to put in the shed yet, which will be great because it will give us more shelfroom; we just have to find a wall to put it on. A lot of Ross’s band gear in sitting outside on our backyard patio, we have no place to put it “yack”. I hope we will have the unpacking done and putting away by the end of next week because we have to get ready for Lynn’s visit. We are so looking forward to seeing her; she is such a good friend. The band room looks like a hurricane hit it, stuff everywhere, I told Ross we didn’t have enough room, and guess what, I was right. Go figure!

We had to go over to John’s house to do our internet and our phoning because we still don’t have internet which means we can’t phone anywhere for free yet. I called our insurance girl because we still haven’t received our reimbursement cheque for the claim we made in July for our awning mishap. She said that it was sent to Winnipeg on the 27th of August and because it is in American funds it took a little longer. The cheque should be sent out in a couple of days. Guess what, they told us that almost a month ago, I hate insurance companies!

We left about 6pm and we came home and had some very nummy BBQ pork chops, Dave potatoes and some mixed veggies. We just finished watching the last 2 episodes of Corrie street from Sunday, Ross is watching some stupid cop show and I’m eating some most excellent grapes from Costco and writing the blog.

I have Tigger laying by my feet, Sunshine on the counter (he still doesn’t think Tigger and Shadow are them, he thinks we got some new cats) Shadow is outside the back yard hunting, Gracie is laying by Ross’s feet in the living room and Big Dog is lying on his blanket in our bedroom. He hasn’t been feeling at all well these last couple of days and last night we thought for sure he would be gone by morning, but sure as shooting he is feeling better today, so he must have had a bug or something. Both Ross and I were sitting beside him in the middle of the night thinking he was going to slip away! He shouldn’t do that, scare us like that. We were discussing canceling our trip to Vegas this Friday if isn’t feeling any better. I think we will be ok, but we are going to talk to a Vet tomorrow to see what we are to do when it happens, and God forbid, having something in place if something does happen to him while we are gone. We don’t want Jennifer (Our house sitter and good friend) to be saddled with this if anything happens. It is so sad to have to talk about these things but we have had Big Dog for 15 of his 16 years and he is the only puppy we have had that will pass away of old age. He is still eating and drinking so hopefully we will have him for a while yet.

It just started to rain like mad here and Handyman and his buddy are just finishing up the concrete work at our back gate. I want to go out later and put our initials in the wet concrete, just because I have never done it before! Ross said it would be better to do this when they do the front as it is really raining out there and they have covered the wet concrete with tarps. They are coming back tomorrow to finish the back and to level off the front driveway so there won’t be such a dip from the ground. They made a 2 meter pad out back very thick so Ross will be able to park his car back there if he wants to. It has been parked out front since we moved here so I think it will be very safe. We seem to have very nice neighbors.

Well I’m going to go and put my feet up. Change the channel (it’s the men’s channel), because Ross has taken Handyman and friend home so I can get a hold of the remote!

Hope everyone has a terrific day!
Ross and Kim in Paradise.
