We had a fabulous Grey Cup party yesterday! It started out by inviting Lisa and Wayne over for the Grey Cup and of course John and Christie (all us Canadians, we did it last year too) and that blossomed up to 12 of us total. They started coming (with food) at 4pm and I think the last one was Sam (a new friend we made, he is a bass player), wow, Ross made hot wings (and I made him make teriyaki ones too, I wasn’t the only one that liked them either), Lisa and Wayne brought 3 plates of cheese and meats, Christie and John brought over veggies and dip, we got a chocolate cake and potato chips, Ronnie and Tony brought egg salad wraps……….it was all good. Ross got one of our TV’s and star choice receiver outside to watch the game outside and everyone who didn’t want to watch it stayed inside and I had HGTV on, it worked out quite well. We were disappointed that Saskatchewan didn’t win, but oh well, there is always next year!
We picked up Sue and Harold last Monday from the airport and ended up going to Ernesto’s for dinner, Ross had the pork chops and I had the chef’s salad, what a meal, the salad had lettuce, egg, bacon, ham, fruit (apples and oranges) and a whole bunch of other stuff, actually brought leftovers home (after Ross kept sneaking off my plate) and had them the next day, yum!
For Thanksgiving we met Dick (Mary Carmen had tummy problems) at Ernesto’s, what a great turkey dinner, we just noticed at the end of the meal he forgot to put sweet potato’s on our plate, (we were thinking they would have to add the sweet potatoes to their menu, just to finish them off). We had pumpkin flan for dessert, exactly the same as pumpkin pie without the pie crust! We had to eat at 3 cause we were off to Nelly’s that night for her turkey dinner and to listen to the band. I never ate but the band was as good as they have ever been, Alvia came too (Geno’s wife, she doesn’t come often). We also met up with Sam (the bass player) for the first time, he came with a lady (she was driving) and they only stayed for not even one set she wanted to go home, he was so upset with her for leaving early (he was to play a few songs) that he forgot to pay their bill, oops!
Friday afternoon we had a sorority meeting to welcome all the new members (that would be me) at Sandy’s house, she owns a beautiful bed and breakfast just blocks off the beach, we actually got a tour, wow! I am now a proud member of the sorority and have the black badge to prove it; they use this badge to collect the pins you get when you continue on your path, there are different levels you can get to if you want!
Now at last it is Friday night and it is the start of our very first Annual Bucerias Chili Cookoff! What a blast, I got there just after 4pm and started off by relieving Karen dishing out our chili while she had a smoke. 5 of us made a gallon each of chili (me too) and we put it all together for our allotted 5 gallons per table. We had a pot of beans to add to the chili if people wanted and we also had cheese, and stuff to put on top. We ran out of chili before the end, I think cause we put too much chili in the cups! I walked around a bit, said hi to Ralph and Geno while they were setting up and to almost everyone else, I love living in a small town, you see so many of your friends while doing these events! I meandered over to the ticket selling table where I had the late shift, we sold the drink and chili tickets, wow, we were selling them right to the end, what a great event, it was very successful!!!
That it about it for now…………………….the past couple of weeks have been so busy with family, meetings and stuff, we are trying to have a bit of down time. Oh forgot to mention that we are now the proud owners of a treadmill! On the yahoo group someone was advertising a free treadmill, it works great but the on/off switch doesn’t work so as soon as you plug it in it starts. I’m going to have to make sure it is going very slow when I’m done, hopefully I will lose some of this weight I have been putting on!!!
Ross Kim and Critters in Paradise!
