Tuesday December 7th to Tuesday December 14th, 2010
Today is day one working the office again!!! Since we have our working FM3’s we are now legal to sit in the office and play on our computers for 6 hours, oh well, we are sure to get some clients someday???!!! A couple of weeks ago our good friend Renee asked if we could pick her up from the airport today (we weren’t working the office when I said yes), she was coming back from Chicago to stay until March, I think, she has renters coming in at that time. I picked her up from the airport (she ordered a wheelchair when she got her tickets……that is the only way to go!) and off to Bucerias, our little piece of paradise! Once back in her condo she looked around for her kitty litter box and couldn’t seem to locate it (she brought her cat down), so off I truck back to the house to lend her our extra one (the one we bought for Babygirl in the rv) and by the time I brought it back to her house she found hers, her maid put it outside on the balcony, not the top of it, that we found, but just the bottom of it along with his dishes! Maids tend to do that though, we seem to not put stuff in the places where they think it should go, it takes me a while to find things around our house. Once we got the cat in order, I drove her over to Mega to pick up a few groceries, we got everything put away and she offered me a drink, vodka, scotch or warm beer, since I don’t like scotch or warm beer I had vodka, wow was it strong, she said it was strong to her and she likes her drinks strong, we had a pleasant time chatting, and I left around 6ish? Ross took off to Britannia for their jam session, I stayed home to watch Christmas movies.
Wednesday………………………..well we had some excitement today!!! We went into PV today to get Ross’s new watchband fixed and to have supper at Sirloin Stockade (which by the way was very, very, very good, as was the company…Sue, Harold, Dick and of course Mary Carmen) when we realized Ross didn‘t have his wallet with him!!! I paid the 40 pesos to fix the watch band and we figured his wallet fell out on the bedroom floor last night when he threw his shorts onto the floor. We drove to The Galleria Mall and had a great dinner then got to drive over the fixed bridge back to Bucerias, wow no waiting, it was great!
Thursday was cooking day for our Christmas boutique sale we were having on Saturday for Beta Sigma Phi. I had planned on baking sugar cookies but forgot the cream of tartar I brought down with me had developed bugs, (I had even put it in a Ziploc bag) so off to Mega to get some more, now, I know that cream is creama so I didn’t think I would have too much trouble buying some, but I couldn’t find it anywhere. Mexico is very strange when it comes to where they put things in grocery stores, the baking stuff will be placed over 2 or 3 aisles, maybe 4 or 5! You will find the flour with the cake mixes (only vanilla or chocolate) and maybe the baking powder, but everything else is everywhere! So off to Walmart I go, still no cream of tartar, what is up with this, so after going down every aisle at least 4 times I bought some coconut (yeah I found some), oatmeal, baking chocolate, and powdered chocolate (down here if you find something you think you might need……..buy it, you may never see it again) and decided to make oatmeal cookies and chocolate dainties for the Christmas Boutique. After I got home I made my cookies and decided to put on facebook if anyone has cream of tartar. I got a reply from John asking me to call his daughter Mackenzie as she loves to bake and she probably would have some. So I did, she had some so we took off to pick up our new old trailer and to get my cream of tartar, well, I got my cream of tartar (it comes in a jar like spices……..if I had known that I would have looked at the spices) but the trailer had a flat tire that needed to be fixed and between John and Ross neither one of them had a jack! They both aren’t handy, John is a computer geek and Ross………..well you know Ross! I made my sugar cookies Thursday night before we trotted off to Philo’s to see our friends (as Ross is not working at Nelly’s anymore we can come to Philo’s more often).
Friday morning I got up fairly early to bake my sugar cookies so they would be ready to be taken over to Linda’s house. You have heard the horror stories of my wonderful oven but I finally got it up to 350 steady and holding (I marked the dial) so my cookies turned out wonderful! Hurray! Yesterday I used the oven (I finally got it at about 300 and holding) and my toaster oven! That was fun……. I got over to Linda’s at 3 and we started getting things ready for tomorrow. We did such a wonderful thing, Linda went and took a picture of each of the children from the special needs school and made 3 copies of each of their pictures, we then traced and cut out enough stars made out of stiff paper to paste all the pictures on them. We added a hanger to each and asked people to donate to the school on behalf of the children, when they found the child they wanted, they hung up one star on the tree with the child’s picture, the benefactor took a star and the child got a star, what a success! The tree was pretty full at the end of the bazaar! I got home around 6ish, and after Ross got home from his meeting we drove to Flaky’s, the new fish and chip place that just opened up across the street from the office on Lazaro Cardenas. Wow it was great, his and Britannia’s are the best in the bay I think. We of course met up with a couple we know and a guy Ross knows from the pointy hat club, it is a very small town!
Saturday’s Christmas boutique sale was a great success! I went at 11am (my shift started at 11:30) to buy some stuff……………I got a water cooler jug cover (it is green with candy canes on it), a wine carrier (so if I fall next time I won’t be holding the bottle of wine, my hand still really hurts) a spider for the tree (long story) and a couple of other things, oh yeah, I got a kerchief thingy that when you put it in ice water some crystals puff up holding in the water so you can put it on the back of your neck in the summer and it will stay cool. The lady selling them had one, it was neat! I got to sit with Sue collecting the money, it’s funny, no matter what charity I work with, I end up always with the money!!! We had a grand time chatting between the two of us and with the hundreds (we maybe not hundreds, but it sure seemed like it) of people that came. I also bought some banana bread too, mine never seems to be cooked in the middle???
Ross left for La Penita to play at a private party, so of course I got my jammies on and watched Christmas movies, what a way to spend a Saturday night!!!
Here it is Tuesday again, we are sitting in the office, not much foot traffic today, a friend of Ross’s stopped by to chat for a bit, and Renee stopped by to say hi. I went over to Gina’s shop across the street and down a bit to see if she could shorten my nails for me, (my next appt isn’t until next Tuesday and I can’t wait that long) I have been typing like mad for a couple of hours now and my nails were just too long, too many typing errors. I got into see her an hour later and now not so many typing errors (except of course trying to type the work error!!!).
It is another beautiful day in paradise; our renters are starting to tear out the carpet upstairs in our house in Edmonton, unfortunately they found some mold, they might have to replace some drywall? Good thing they are handy! We had a humidifier in that corner of our dining room for a couple of years; we hope that is where the water came from and not from the bathroom (it is on the other side of the wall). She sent a picture of the mold and will keep up updated! I had picked out some very nice blonde hardwood for the flooring from Home Depot but it was on sale and was all gone by the time she went to get it. I ended up picking out the dark stuff as it was only $5 more a box, I am just concerned with keeping it clean, and dark shows every piece of dust on it. I am looking forward to seeing the pictures of it when it is done.
Well, that is about it for this week, Ross is playing in San Poncho Thursday and I am going on a road trip with the sisters of Beta Sigma Phi which should be a blast! Will let you know how it turns out!
Ross Kim and critters in Paradise!
