Thursday December 23rd to Tuesday December 28th, 2010

Wow, have we had some terrific times these past few days…………where to start………..where to start??? “We’ll start at the very beginning, that’s a very good place to start” oops sorry I just burst into song…………………..I just watched The Sound of Music the other night (notice I didn’t say we)!!! I read this part of my blog to Ross, which is odd, cause I never do that, and he said I sounded like Dr. Seuss!!

Thursday December 23rd was another beautiful day in Bucerias! Cecilla my new cleaning lady came today, she pointed to my ceiling fans, yes, yes, please clean them, I have no idea how they get so dirty so fast, though mind you I don’t have them on all the time as it’s not super hot in the morning or nights anymore. Tonight we went to a caroling posada at Linda’s and Doug’s house, oh what fun we had, we ate and chatted, then ate some more! Everyone (well almost) was there, at whatever time it was, we all sat and sang Christmas carols while a lady played the keyboard, we also had a stand up bass and a mandolin! At the very end of our caroling we all sang the 12 days of Christmas, not only did we sing we did hand movements too, it was a blast!

Friday…………..Happy/Merry Christmas Eve we were invited to Dick and Mary Carmen’s house for a US/Mexican feast! We brought them a little something and a box of my Christmas cookies, their Christmas tree was amazing, they bought it at Mega the day of our Peace animal adoption, so green and very real………….no fake stuff for them! We had a very nice dinner, it started out with a chowder soup, then we had some salted fish (Dick said it was baby shark but we also heard it can be cod)……….this fish was very interesting, kinda flaked/chunked in a sauce with olives, an acquired taste me thinks! Then came the good stuff, ham with green beans and sweet potatoes with marshmallows on top……………yummy! After supper they passed around the presents, we even got some; I got a very nice aroma therapy thingyamabob that you put a tea light candle in the bottom and the melted wax on top. (Ross and I sat for a good 2 minutes trying to remember what it is called but couldn’t come up with the name). Any one that remembers it can let me know what the name of it is……………………..or not!!! Ross got a Christmas tree of ferrero rocher chocolates, yum, he says he has never had one before; I think he has and just forgot!!!

Merry Christmas

And what a super day it was. Ross finally got out of bed around 12 and we opened presents. Santa got Ross a man bag (I threatened him I would if he keeps loosing things, which of course he will never, use!) and the critters got him a very nice t-shirt with geckos on it, something he can where when we go some place fancy!!! I got a very nice elf extension cord (shall I kill him now?), a ceramic Christmas tree that is missing the star on top, an M&M elf with candies and a 2011 Bombero (firefighter) calendar. Whoopee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Around one thirty I left to go over to Sue and Harold’s to help Sue get ready for their Annual Christmas day BBQ party, which I’m glad I went as Harold ended up having to do an airport run so we ended up doing most of everything, including BBQing the arrachera (but as I am typing this I am thinking about, really, how much do the guys do to get ready for a party??) Ross came and put the peligro tape up to block the road then got the tables and chairs out on the road, as people came the dining table got fuller and fuller and fuller, wow I am always amazed on how pot luck dinners come together, never too much of one thing! There was the arrachera, Sue’s famous church corn, beans, devilled eggs, salads, very good spicy sausage (Ross brought that along with 2 containers of donuts) and I also brought my last box of Christmas cookies, thank god, I’m getting fat! I truly believe a good time was had by all, everyone was outside chatting, eating and drinking, I’m afraid to say we were some of the last to leave, but before I close this paragraph I need to tell you about someone that was at the party. Roxana has a house guest right now and brought her to the party, her name is Brenda and to her benefit she did bring a dish to share…………….but she left with a grocery bag full of food! Do you believe this, Harold saw her but thought she was either bring it in or taking her stuff home with her!!!

Happy Boxing Day! Or happy festivus!

There sure is a whole lot of Happy’s going around right now! We have been invited to a festivus party, now; at least I didn’t know what this was, until I was told it is a Seinfeld thing, George’s father started it, the tree is an aluminum pole and they all sit around the dinner table airing their grievances to each other! How much fun could that be you ask??? Well let me tell you……………..it was a blast! We went to Judy and Dennis’s house, wow, you have your back to their condo first you see an in ground pool, a little farther you see some grass then you look a little farther and you see the beach and ocean! Magnificent!!

There must have been t least 30 people there all having a great time, there was a pole but that was about the only thing the same as the TV show. We had a blast, the food was great, we had ham, beans, potato, salads, BBQ’d little wieners, deviled eggs…do you see a pattern to my blogs, there is food, then food, then more food!
Well, all I can tell you Monday there wasn’t as much food………………well just what we had in the house, other than Ross going to his meeting we did nothing (except maybe finishing the last 2 episodes of corrie we recorded on Sunday). I did some laundry and put it in the dryer went to get it out of the dryer and it was still wet, damn it, we ran out of propane!!! I called to get our tank filled up but they didn’t get there until 7pm so I guess it was a good thing we stayed home since we didn’t have showers, (I guess Ross just used a lot of deodorant when he went to his meeting).
Today, being Tuesday we are sitting at the office, which we might have 2 leads, peole looking to purchase down here!! Hurray for us! Sue came by to chat, which I am really glad she did cause I found out I needed to bring a white elephant gift to our BSP holiday party on Thursday………………yes I know it never ends! We maybe going to Britannia tonight for their open jam………….I think mostly to see how Mike is doing after his horse incident!

Tomorrow we are throwing a Bad Santa (movie) party (it is all Sue and Harold’s fault…they wanted to share the movie with us, we wanted a turkey……………..so now we have about 12 people coming over to our house tomorrow for turkey dinner and a movie……….how do we get ourselves into messes like this???????? We are having turkey, potatoes, sweet potatoes, broccoli, Sue is bring church corn, gravy, dressing………………… There better be turkey leftovers!
