I know everyone is on tender hooks wondering if we are leaving Vegas or not……the answer, my friends, is no. We get to stay in this fun filled city until probably Tuesday, cause the one and only awning that would fit, and was powered was SOLD to someone not as worthy as us. However, here we sit for at least another 3 days as we probably get our new awning Monday some time (non-powered) so we will be here until at least Tuesday.
It is a hard life when you are stuck in Vegas over a weekend. We did a bit of searching today for The Discovery store and/or Sharper Image for Ross to drool over the stuff they have, he wanted to buy another Ionizer, but no, Sharper Image no longer exists in Vegas, for that matter neither does The Discovery Store, Ross is astounded! He might go into a corner and cry a bit!
Oh well, buck up kiddo, we had a great dinner, again at the City Diner at Golden Gate Ross had prime rib and I had the specialty………wait for it……………….shrimp cocktail (their specialty). We listened to some very funky 60’s music and lost about $50.00 at our favorite machines. He played some penny slots too, but raced each other to lose!!
The air conditioner we bought in Pocatello was put to good use today (cause it’s friggin’ hot here) was plugged in today, and between the 2 roof air conditioners and our new free standing air conditioner it is now, at 1 am (pacific time), is 75 degrees in here (about 22 C) and outside it is 89.5 degrees (31.9 C), I know, it has rained in Edmonton for about 4 days now???

Before we carry on with today, just want everyone to know that we did not dip in the pool, Ross drove out to take a picture of our poor awning in the ditch!
We are now in the KOA attached to Circus Circus, Wow; we are in Vegas......what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, that is sooooooooooooooooo cool! We have called an RV guy for our living room slide and will talk to him about a Holiday Rambler dealer here in Vegas so we can get our awning fixed. We have talked with our insurance company and they will pay for it less $250.00 deductable and they will pay $1500.00 for loss of use. We have reserved our spot until the 14th, hopefully we will not be here that long! All our animals are spread out on our carpet very hot! We have the air on but it is super hot still. The temp was at 40c.
We went out for supper at Circus Circus, Ross had the best beef dip ever and I had a teriyaki rice bowl, yummy. We then went to Wallyworld to get some fans, it’s damn hot! and then drove the strip (we had to), now we are back again, trying to work with a reallyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy slow internet. We have to get up at 8 for the RV repair man they recommended, he is coming at 9:30 (yuck).

It never rains but it pours. We pulled in our living room slide this morning and it didn’t go in all the way so we need to get that repaired and on top of that, driving down I15 between Salt Lake City and where we are now (Fillmore Utah) the wind was so bad it tore our big awning over the door right off! Wow are we going to have one hell of an insurance claim! It has been super windy because of the cold air from the north and the hot air from the south colliding.
I have to admit I15 has been a great road, except for the concrete road we travelled over and shook the RV around outside Salt Lake City. There hasn’t been a lot of construction, just by Butte Montana and Salt Lake city.
We got in about 5:30 and went to a neighbourhood pizza place for supper and now we are just chillin’ in the RV, it has been a very stressful day for us. Well actually, it was stressful until we realized we could claim the damage on insurance (we are covered until the 24th), now, we are just pooped. It didn’t dawn on us to use our insurance; it was the owner at this KOA that suggested it. We must be more tired than normal.
There is a pool at this KOA so we just might go in for a dip.

4:53 pm You get to the point every once in a while, thinking that there aren’t any good people in this world and all people want to do is rip you off. Let us tell you, 2 men from Idaho Falls have restored our faith in human beings. As you heard yesterday 2 guys came to look at our slide motor and they took it with them to get fixed. Some people would say that we were crazy to let them have it since we don’t know them from Adam and they could have ripped us off. Yesterday was Sunday by the way, so they came on a day off. They came back this afternoon with a completely fixed motor, reinstalled it, found out that whoever installed it from the factory did it wrong and it was pulling on one side faster than the other, realigned it so it would pull in straight (that was why it burnt out). They also fixed our awning, the inside part of the slide that we broke off (we forgot to pull up the driver’s seat), and they fixed one of our basement doors. He also had phoned around all over the country this morning trying to get us a new one, just in case his friend couldn’t fix it. He finally found one on the east coast costing 900.00 and it would take up to 10 days to get here and they wanted the money up front. For everything he did, including his drive time and phone calls he only charged us 600.00! I love people!
Not much happened today, we went to Shopco to look at a 3’ swimming pool that Ross and I had a bet that the box would be bigger than the box of the air conditioner we bought yesterday (Ross said it would be the same size I said it would be bigger, by the way we have no place to put these except in the living room of the RV) well Ross won, so I owe him supper. We were going to BBQ tonight but Ross decided since I owe him supper we are going out. Don’t know where.
Pam and Stacy, do you remember going to Village Inn in Denver and Pam and I always got blueberry crapes with whipping cream on it? Well we went to IHOP (International House of Pancakes) for brunch and I had them. Wow were they good, this was the first time I had them since Village Inn!
The weather has been great, thunder storms for Ross at night and in the mid 80’s (29C) in the day time for me, hurray! I heard Edmonton was getting some good weather too, it’s about time!
8:32 pm Hi again, just wanted to let you know that we had blueberries, left over KFC and cheese for supper, so I guess I still owe Ross a supper! We played pool at the club house and we both won once so we stopped at that!
We are off to Fillmore, Utah tomorrow, talk to you then!

Well, the July 4th fireworks were even better than I remember. We went back to the fairgrounds at about 9:30 and parked in a small business centre parking lot right beside the grounds and you will not believe this, a van parked beside us and we started talking, they are from Edmonton on their way to San Francisco and to top it off, she works at CRA and she has heard of Ross. Is this a small world or what! It didn’t take us long to get back to the KOA and we had a pleasant rest of the night.
We ran into a bit of a problem this morning though, it seems like our living room slide motor has quit as it won’t come in, so we are staying another night, and waiting for a RV repair person to call us back so he can come see what is wrong. So here we sit, it is a pleasant 85 degrees (29c) with a slight wind blowing, 20% chance of thundershowers. We went to Fred Meyer yesterday and found a great deal on a portable air conditioner (we have no air in our house in Bucerias) $200.00 off so we asked the guy if he could hold it for us so we could pick it up today in Betsy, but they wouldn’t so we left it. We are going to take the globe out of the back seat of the car and see if they still have it today and we will have room in the car for it. It’s pretty sad that a 20’ trailer won’t hold all your stuff and you have to have your vacuum cleaner in the trunk of the car and an old air conditioner and a globe in your back seat! Oh well........................ (We won’t mention the stuff we have shoved in the shower stall). The repair guy never did call back so we looked in another paper and phoned another out of work guy. It is now 7:49 Sunday night and our unemployed RV repair guy come to see us from Idaho Falls (about an hour away) and he told us that the motor had burned out and we need to get it fixed. To get a new one shipped would be about 10 days but we could get ours rebuilt and have it installed tomorrow afternoon/night. So here we are in Pocatello Idaho for tonight and tomorrow night then hopefully off to Utah and beyond the next day. We are going to go play pool now; they have a couple of tables in the club house. ps: We went back to Fred Meyer and picked up the air conditioner and got another 10% off just cause!

We are writing this in a hail storm in a beautiful KOA campsite in Pocatello, Idaho. We got here quite early in the day, about 3pm and went to the fairgrounds to check out the action. There were a few rides and a band playing on the stage. We toured around, bought candy floss and a corn dog then left to tour the city. After driving around seeing the sights we stopped at the sizzler restaurant for a very nice meal, Ross had steak and I had steak and lobster. Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmy! Just as we got back to the RV (Betsy) it started pouring rain, and hail with thunder and lightning constantly, Ross is in his glory. We went outside for a bit, (actually before the second sentence of this blog) to sit outside the KOA office to watch, we sat on a towel and had an umbrella overhead. Not much happened today, the trailer lights are working just fine and other than that we just tootled right along I15. I have made a reservation in Fillmore Utah at another KOA for tomorrow night.

July 2nd and 3rd - We have internet - hurrah!

Hi Ho everyone, we have completed day 1 of our “Excellent Adventure” (Ross is Ted and I’m Bob) and we are sitting in the Lethbridge Casino parking lot. We ate a great supper (Ross had a steak and I had a seafood croissant) and Ross won $68.00 gambling! We are going to use some of it for breakfast tomorrow and I guess we will try to win some more. (It’s a tough life)
We had a bit of a problem this morning, we left Sherwood Park at about 10:30 am and about half way to Red Deer we stopped and felt the tires on the trailer and they were way too hot. The trailer manufacturer is in Red Deer so we stopped in and found out that the tires on the trailer were good, but they weren’t radials! So we now have 4 new tires (they are a lot bigger than the ones that were on it) and Ross said the trailer pulls much better now. We left Red Deer at about 3:30 pm and pulled into Lethbridge at about 8:00pm.
The weather has been great, sunny most of the morning and the afternoon and cloudy the rest of the time. We both agreed that we couldn’t have had better weather on day 1. We are going to cross the border tomorrow, so we’ll see if they let us in with all our possessions (they might think that we are trying to sneak into their country)! Yeah, right, like we would stay in the states when we have a house waiting in paradise! I got all our documentation out in anticipation of our crossing, Ross thinks it might be busy cause of July 4th. I guess we will have to see.
Oh yeah, while we were in the casino, Ross phoned an old buddy of his that he hasn’t seen for more than 30 years (he played in a band called Wizard with Ross), his name is Doug Freeman (bass player) so we planned for him to meet us here in the parking lot of the casino!

It was so cool, we stayed in the casino parking lot last night and woke up at about 8:30 am and thought we would have a cheap breakfast at the casino. We walked up to the casino and found out it doesn’t open until 9:30, we had 10 minutes to wait so we just joined the few people in between the two sets of doors to wait. By the time 9:30 came there must have been at least 30 people waiting ( mostly older people), Ross and I both thought that there were sure a lot of die hard gamblers waiting for the doors to open. Once they were opened they all started running, again we thought they were running to find their favourite machine, but no, they were all running toward the restaurant, the breakfast was only $4.95. I guess this is how the seniors spend their mornings, waiting for cheap breakfasts, we guessed we were about to join them. You would be surprised that by the time we found a booth, all the tables were full and people were waiting for a table, wow!
We got out of Lethbridge without incident and were pleasantly surprised when the US border guards didn’t even inspect the RV, all Ross had to do was drive through a big building where they x-rayed the vehicle, we were stopped no more than 5 minutes, we are hoping the Mexican border will be the same.
While driving towards Butte Montana, we traveled through gorgeous mountain ranges and through a rain storm, there was a bit of lightning and thunder but not much. On some of the hills going up we ended up only going about 30 miles an hour, really slow. We found out that after the rainstorm our trailer lights started going funny. Ross would turn his left signal light on and his right one would flash, when he hit the brakes the back up camera came on even though it was switched off. We have unplugged the plug and we are hoping once it dries it will work properly. Getting the electrical checked on this beast will take forever! We have our fingers crossed that it will work in the morning.
Now we get to the fun part. Before we left home I had searched the internet looking for a couple of RV parks to help us out. When we were close to Butte, we plugged in the name of the RV Park we had decided on in the GPS and the RV Park we were looking at was actually on one of the choices on the GPS so we hit go. We followed the instructions and found it had directed us to a 2 lane road that looked like it went nowhere. Well it did, the paved road stopped and we ended up on a gravel road with nowhere to turn around, until we came upon a road that went on the diagonal. We tried to turn around there and ended up jackknifing the trailer, lucky for us there was a SUV waiting patiently for us, when we asked what was down the road farther she told us that there was a place to turn around up farther a bit. We headed down that way and finally got the rig turned around, in the mean time when we were talking with the lady in the SUV she told us that there were about 4 other people getting lost as the GPS didn’t have the right co-ordinates and she told us how to get to the RV Park. Earlier on in the day we had stopped at a gas station and bought some fireworks, the lady that sold them to us told us that Butte was a party town and we had decided that we might stay a couple of days since we thought it might be fun. We got turned around, found the RV Park (it’s yucky) and we are going to drive to Pocatello Idaho as planned! We stopped in too late for the people working in the office and on the door it said that they had wireless internet so we decided to stay, guess what, no internet, that’s why we are getting a few days of blog in one. Oh well, tomorrow is another day!
