Hi everyone, guess what........we got outta Vegas! Hurray! Not before a bit of a problem with getting Betsy started. We called our Vegas RV guy and he came all the way from Henderson (a long way) to pull out some fuses and put them in again and guess what? She started up right away. He told me that when you start mucking with the electrical sometimes you just need to reset everything, he reset us and she started up like new! He wouldn’t even let me pay for his trip, a really nice guy!
We started out on I15 waiting for highway 93 to come up to go to the dam, and guess what, no highway 93. We pulled a u-e and went down a highway called Rose Highway and ended up where we needed to be, but there were so many stop lights I ended up turning off the air as it kept heating up the engine. We got to the highway we wanted and continued over the dam and up the other side. Wow, it is so breathtaking, even if you have seen it lots and lots of times. Ross was having a fine time with the Genset, it wouldn’t stay on! I suggested it was because it was so hot thank god the dash air stayed on most of the time.
We detoured from I40 so we could drive on Route 66. Ross was in 7th heaven......he started to sing, you know what, I made him stop! We stopped at a cafe called Road Kill and had lupper, and the Genset stayed on so the children were ok, Ross had a cheeseburger and I had homemade chicken soup and a turkey and Swiss sandwich on sourdough bread, yummy. Ross of course had to by a T-shirt and a couple of road signs (for the casa), the Route 66 road signs of course.
It was just about 40C when we left Vegas at about 11 am and by the time we got to the KOA in the Grand Canyon was 23C and sprinkling, wow what a difference. I opened all my windows, unfortunately I had to leave the AC on because it was muggy, but it is sure nice to be able to open the windows and smell the fresh air. I really hate to say this but I think we are done with Vegas for a long while.
Ross just got a blog from our Bucerias group from Larry (a hippy from San Francisco) and he told us that Carlos Santana is putting on a concert for his hometown (close to us) on Nov 25th, guess where we will be!
All the animals are doing much better here; sniffing out the windows was very tiring for them so they are all napping now, to be up much later..............
Talk to you soon,
(we are still in hippie mode) PEACE
Ross and Kim
