Today is the day we have decided to have Big Dog put down. We have given him a bigger dose of his medication but he still can’t walk without falling down. We called the girl at PEACE (our animal adoption/neuter/spay girl) and she is far away and can’t help. We put out an S.O.S on our blogs and 4 people have recommended calling a certain vet in PV so that is what we are going to be doing tomorrow. It is a good day and a bad day, we don’t want to say bye to Bandit but he has had a full life and is not having any fun now. He is hardly eating, and can’t stand we took him out after we got home from Ross’s gig (I’m getting a bit ahead of myself) and he was just outside when he went pee, and he had an accident this morning in the bedroom.
Our new car guy came to pick up our car to fix the alternator and was only an hour late (He’s from Calgary) and tried to fix it with a new one but it was a tad too long so he ended up rebuilding ours and we got it back at 6ish and we took off to Crazy Nelly’s in Guayabitos (thank god for spell check) for Ross’s first gig with the “Juan-Ted and the Rhythm Roosters”. It was a great gig, Gene-o played a great guitar and sings (the best guitar player I’ve heard yet here), Ralph on bass and also sings, then Ross on drums. They didn’t have a rehearsal and it went off pretty good. At the end of the night they had 2 encores (uno mas, uno mas) (one more, one more). The very few patrons at the bar loved them (even Nelly, which is good because she is paying them) and we hope to have a lot more people there as soon as the word gets out that they are awesome. They are playing all old stuff that everyone our age knows. I am going to try to have some friends make a night of it and we can all drive out together so everyone can hear Ross play.
The best story is on the way home. Picture this…..a very curvy (very good) 2 lane road, covered in old trees with signs that say curvas peligrosas (dangerous curves) going over mountains. I will try to find a picture. We are following 2 buses that are driving between 100 and 120 kms an hour and they are pulling away from us. Please note that this is the main highway (200) (4 lane divided) that goes through PV, Nuevo and Bucerias going to La Cruz and just after La Cruz it turns into a 2 lane (again a very good highway) curvy death trap! No one goes the speed limit and the Mexicans at night will turn off their headlights (so they can see other drivers) and will pass anytime whether or not it is safe or not, so it is not a safe road to drive at night. So the buses (2, one behind the other) are driving between, like I said 100 to 120 kms an hour (the highest speed limit is 60) passing semi’s (one was a coke truck)! And Ross is mostly keeping up, we figure if someone is passing they will hit the bus before us, but losing them around a couple of corners. They finally got ahead of us passing a few trucks, wow, what a ride.
We are home now (it’s 1:50am yuck) and we are going through some notes that friends have sent in regards to Big Dog. He has touched so many hearts, and we will all be sad when he goes. We need to go to bed now so I’ll say adios for tonight (I still need to find a picture of the highway) and we’ll connect tomorrow!
Ross, Kim, Big dog, Gracie, Buddy, Shadow, Tigger and Sunshine in Paradise!
