Wednesday November 18th & part of Thursday November 19th, 2009
We woke up to another glorious day in paradise, sun is shining and it’s warm. We were supposed to go with Elements Realty to do some more real estate looking but it was decided not to so Ross and I got to sleep in. We putzed around home until 1:30 then we went over to Harold and Sue’s for a bit of pool time and a BBQ. We had the church corn again (frozen corn nibblets, butter and cream cheese warmed up in crock pot delicious) with beans and Harold BBQ’d up some beef and we had tacos. I didn’t bring any wine with me (bad girl, but I just had the big one at home) so I had some of everyone else’s (Today is Thursday and I picked up a couple of bottles (71 pesos each) one to replace Sue’s and one for next time). We had a great time, so much so that when Ross went to Britannia for “Deep River” (The band Ross is in with Nick and Mike) for his 4 – 7:30 stint, I stayed behind to keep partying. We left Harold and Sue’s house at 6 to go to watch Ross play, they haven’t seen him play yet, so we all got into Harold’s pick me up truck (we pretended we were Mexicans!) and drove to La Cruz. We had a great time! They played for an extra hour just because we were there (there was 10 of us).
After they packed up we decided to go to San Jose (turn inland from Mescals’ a few kms)
I rode with Ross and we drove back to Harold and Sue’s house, I’m not quite sure why but I went pee. When I got outside I was walking back to the car and where the sidewalk goes down for a driveway my foot slipped out of my shoe (I was wearing 1” heels) and after seeing the doctor today I didn’t break my ankle I just pulled some tendons and I skinned my left knee. I didn’t want to stop the party so we followed the truck to San Jose and had some great authentic food from a small restaurant/house sitting on the street with tables and chairs. Alex (he is a paramedic and works with Harold for the Bombaros (fire department)) lives in this small town and loves this little restaurant! We left the gang to drive Alex home and Ross and I drove home. I put my foot in a elastic bandage and went to bed.
We woke up this morning and I couldn’t walk on my foot and it’s really swollen on the right side of my foot and quite black and blue. So after we had our coffee we showered and drove to Dr. Victors place about 5 minutes away from our house on the lateral. We were told that he has x-ray equipment and that is where to go if you need this service, but don’t trust him a just a diagnoses?!?!? You are not going to believe this service…..we drove up and went into the front door that a nurse helped open. We just sat down and the doctor came out and after telling him my problem he asked me if I had had an x-ray, I told him that was what I was there for, so we walked to the x-ray room and within 5 minutes he had done the x-rays and we were looking at my foot bones with another device that Ross and I can’t remember what it is called. He showed me my bones were not broken (which he said was good because if they were I would have had to have surgery) but I pulled the ligaments. We walked back to his office; he bandaged my foot, gave me a shot in my butt with an anti-inflammatory and gave me a prescription for some pain killers. It cost us 900 pesos and 71 pesos for my prescription and we were in there for a total of 15 - 20 minutes max! After seeing Dr. Victor we drove to Wal-Mart to get my pain meds (I only got 4 which was really weird and they let me keep the prescription) then we went to Home Depot to get a sprinkler for our front dirt. Yes I’m not joking, they water down the road everyday so the dust doesn’t reek havoc, and I stayed in the car because my foot was really sore. I took some pain meds (you let it dissolve under your tongue) while waiting for Ross. He came out of the store with a Christmas palm tree (one of the pictures I have added) a gingerbread house for my Christmas collection, a sprinkler and some quick connects. The pain meds didn’t help so I took some T1’s when we got home, I’m still waiting for them to work, it’s been a couple of hours now. It’s 5:30 pm now and Ross is putzing with his sprinkler and quick connects (he bought the wrong ones) and we will be leaving for Rincon Guayabitos for his Thursday gig with Ralph and Geno at Crazy Nelly’s (Juan-Ted and the Rhythm Roosters) Geno is Juan-Ted and Ralph and Ross are the roosters. I am sitting in front of the TV with my foot up (another picture) watching Ty in Extreme Makeover – home edition. So I’ll say bye for now and maybe tonight I’ll continue maybe after the gig.

Ok it is now 1:30am and we just got home from Guayabitos, the band, again, was a great success; they made me dance on one foot! It was fun but wow it hurts. Poor Nelly looks at my foot and says”who is gonna dance with me?” You have to understand that Nelly can’t be older than 30ish so she has a lot of energy. We are so looking forward to next Thursday, it’s Nelly’s favorite holiday (American thanksgiving) and she is all booked up for a full turkey dinner and it’s Ralph’s birthday! So we are going to have so much fun, if you’re here next Thursday, please come, it’ll be awesome. Hopefully my foot will be better next week cause it’s gonna be an awesome time (did I mention that already?)
Ross made me watch the discovery channel when we got home (he had to take the dogs for a walk as I’m laid up and I changed it to HGTV but we’ve already seen it earlier) so when he got home he changed it. We (ok I have) have our very tacky lighted palm tree on, Ross thought it would look good out our front but I think the Mexicans would think it tacky) (oh like me) and I think it will stay in the living room as my big (maybe 5’) tree will be outside in my back yard (Oh did I mention I live in Paradise?).
Well, I really gotta go now, take some pain killers and go to bed! So have a great day today and we’ll talk later!
