Special Edition

Tigger went to The Rainbow Bridge at approx 5 pm Central Standard Time.
RIP Tigger 2002 – 2009

Tigger succumbed to his wounds Saturday the 14th while we were out. I had taken him to the vet around 1 in the afternoon and he said that the wound looked good and gave me some pain killers for him after cleaning the wound and putting a bandage on it to keep it clean. He had given me another, after cleaning the wound on Sunday I was to put it on. We found him on the patio beside my chair when we got home around 9:30 Saturday night and he looked like he had been gone awhile. We bundled him up and put him in the freezer and will take him to get cremated Tuesday after a stint in the office.

I got Tigger when he was 2 years old from PetSmart (they were holding SPCA animals because the SPCA was full), I fell in love with him as soon as I saw him. He was skinny with a little tail and was trying to hide in the corner of his cage. I had lost Malibu a few months previous and Tigger was so like him, I had to have him. I had gone there just before closing so I had to go home without him and come back in the morning to get him. I was told he was found on the streets of Edmonton all dirty and scared and someone found him and took him to the SPCA (thank you) so he could find a new home.

I brought him home and he was so scared, he hid for a couple of weeks. He slowly came out and would lay beside me for me to rub his tummy, he loved that. I would almost give him a massage on his tummy and he would roll over and look dreamy at me, saying more, more, more, thank you! He didn’t like men much, I think it took Ross at least a year to be able to touch him but once that happened Ross loved to pull his tail until his back cracked………Tigger came back for more. Because Tigger had been found outside and had probably been there for quite some time he had an undercoat of fur that would mat so bad, he would lay there and let me cut so close to his skin that it was scary!

He grew (as all our animals do) to become 17 lbs of pure love! I kept him as an inside cat until we moved to Mexico. With a 10 foot wall they figured out a way to go up on top and jump down to play even before we had the stairs built to the Bucerias Weather Station. He loved stalking the bugs and would tear legs off grasshoppers in the yard and would play with them. As he was a lover not a fighter he had no idea he was hurting them, but as he was not at his best weight he had a hard time running so this slowed them down some. He would catch a bug under his huge paw and would leave it there for a few seconds, looking around like he had all day, then he would lift up his paw very carefully to make sure they were still there. Sometimes they would get away, sometimes not.

I miss him coming into the bedroom at night and laying at my back, sometimes crawling over top of me, looking for a belly rub. He was one of my best animal friends and I will miss him dearly. It’s funny though, every once in a while I can smell him, just a whiff or two…then it’s gone, I just wonder sometimes that he is still with me (just like the movie ghost with Patrick Swayze and Whoopie), I sure hope so.

Well, here’s to you Tigger!
We love and miss you Mum and Dad in Paradise
